Strong hold, high volume, low shine
Best homebrew matte paste that i've tried so far. It has a strong hold that will leave your hair feeling gritty, but touchable. The gritt provides structure that will allow you to achieve high volume structured but natural looks without the hair feeling overly dry.I would say its better for structured looks and not the real messy spiky looks because of the density of the product. Because you will have this natural touchable look I would say that restyling with your hands will be necessary throughout the day. The foundation of the style will remain intact but stray hairs will become prominant, this seems to be the case with most products that aren't gel. This is a thick product so make sure to apply in very small amounts in order to distribute properly.Shampoo is needed to get this out entirely.Overall a great product with quality ingrediants not found in your american crews of the world. If you want volume, hold, texture and a matte shine without it being overly dry, give it a shot!

Finally, a replacement for my discontinued old favorite.
In case this helps anyone Googling for good replacements for the excellent but now-discontinued FX Molding Wax that came in a lime green container, I've tried a lot of different products, and this one is what you're looking for. It has the same strong hold without adding hardness or shine, and is even better in one regard — it's nearly odorless. The scent it does have is extremely subtle (and pleasant). It's obviously more expensive than the FX was, but you get a lot per container. Highly recommended.

Overwhelming Scent of Patchouli!!
Let me first start by saying that I have used a ton of different stuff out there and I have to say this stuff is pretty decent. My initial impression after opening up the package was that it seemed similar to Northern Lights (NL) or O'douds Matte Paste (OMP) as it comes in a similar dark glass container, but that is where I'd say the similarities end. This feels a tad more lumpy feeling when you scoop it out than the smooth creaminess of NL and maybe a bit more dense feeling than OMP, but it actually breaks down quite nicely in your hand. This stuff also seems to feel lighter in my hair than NL does without weighing my hair down as much, and it's a little less dry feeling than OMP, which would probably be a good thing for someone with more dense or coarse hair, but unfortunately for me, I have very fine strands of straight hair, so I am always looking for something that can give me good volume. This for sure provides better volume than NL, but in my opinion, I have to say that OMP still gives better volume that will last much longer throughout the day.Now my main reason for this post is to help out others realize that this stuff does come bearing an overwhelming scent that pretty much sticks with you ALL DAY LONG, and that's because it contains patchouli, which I have never cared for much myself. When I initially opened up the container and took a quick sniff it seemed to have a similar scent to OMP (an herbal natural type of scent), but after breaking it down in your hands and putting it through your hair the scent of patchouli really begins to open up and it is beyond comprehension just how INTENSE this stuff is. As I mentioned earlier, I have never cared for that scent much myself, so I could be a tad more sensitive to that particular smell, but if you're not too sure yourself of this smell I would take a trip to your local Whole Foods or Smoke Shop where this smell is usually quite prevalent. I do realize there are multiple benefits to using patchouli, which you can research for yourself, but for me the scent outways the benefits as it's just too unbearable to smell all day long, and it overpowers any Cologne/Perfume you might be wearing as well, which is also no bueno. Anyhow, I hope that was somewhat helpful. God Bless!

Best Matte Paste from a Homebrewer
Best matte paste I’ve used. I’ve tried other brands with similar price-points and had issues with either weak hold or dryness. The Arcadian Matte Paste provides a strong hold that leaves your hair feeling soft as it settles throughout the day, making it malleable enough to run your fingers through it still. The scent is light and herbal, nothing amazing but not offensive. Overall, this is the product I trust the most to hold my hair in place all day long.

Best Clay Matte Paste
This has to be the best Clay Matte Paste I have used. I have tried so many products, some were also decently good but had flaws. This is to me perfect, especially for my thick East Asian type hair. it has really good hold that last all day while still very movable.

Love this product!
I'm a stickler for good hair products. I have 10 different products and since I came across this, it's all I use. Not pasty....has a firm consistency and great hold.

Too dry for my hair
Smell is kinda subjective, but my hair is too dry after using a small portion of it.

Disappointed
Turns out its not a "dry matte cream". I watched vids on it and expected it to be a true matte. I have always bought Odouds matte paste and I wanted to try something new. Turns out I should have stuck to what works. Arcadian matte paste gives you 5/5 hold 2/5 shine. That's what bothered me is the shine. I like the dry looking products, this definitely has a little shine to it. I'm Just a little annoyed I spent 20$ when I could've just stuck to my original product that's perfect ( Odouds matte paste). Its not bad, I just wouldn't but it again. I probably will give it away , I have no use for it.
