6-Inch (306PMKII) Keep It Simple Stupid
After months of research even going into tons of stores. I'll cut to the chase of my simple small setup that didn't cost a fortune. 2 - 6-Inch (306PMKII) I'm wondering what the 8's sound like 1- SMSL100 DAC Money well spent (Bluetooth, Fiber optics, and supposedly from other reviews I can add a subwoofer to the rca out.) Will update this in the future. Cables 2 - 25ft xlr cables I was tired of using boring rca cables 2 - power cables for the speakers Obviously included 1 - power cable for the DAC Obviously included 1 - Fiber optic cable from my tv to the DAC. Why? because I noticed a big difference in sound quality from using bluetooth since I have had these. Since August no subwoofer added to my system but I do plan on getting one eventually. That is all that I am using. No overpriced home audio equipment. I don't have thousands of wires running around my room or wall or cottage that I live in. I use two remotes one for the tv and one for the DAC. I can run my pc via Bluetooth to the DAC but recently I noticed a big difference in quality from using the fiber optic cable. So I run Amazon Music from my tv now(Settings set to HD and up quality in the app). I went with 25ft cables so I can move them around in my cottage with no problem. I have cranked this up full max and have not noticed much distortion. I do this on a Monday when the neighbors are at work and I pretty much have the grounds to myself. It gets loud and the bass is pretty intense. Subwoofer will be next and I'm not sure what I want to do with that. Either a JBL to pair it or to try a $100 compact sub a space savor and to learn from it. I listen to anything that doesn't suck so sorry to you mumble rap crap fans. Classic Rock to the 60's even real hip hop 2 Pac Ja Rule etc...... The speakers are crisp and just right. Klipsch was too tingy. Kef and others out of my price range but sounded incredible to but I wanted a simple small setup and this fit the bill. Pictures and video coming soon 1-20-2023

Excellent General Use Computer Speakers for Non-Professionals
I don't usually review many products, but these speakers are so exceptional I had to take a moment. I am not an audio professional, or audiophile, and don't pretend to be. I bought these for computer use. I had Klipsch 2.1, the old ones, but subwoofer appears blown, and new ones cut corners on quality (imagine a corporation doing that, color me shocked, LOL). I bought used Logitech 623 2.1s, they have good bass, and are fine for most pop music and rap, with robust thumping bass, but their upper and mid is brutal on any remotely sophisticated music where you want to hear something besides bass or a synthesizer. Klipsch had 2 speakers, one for highs, one for mids, in each satellite speaker, M623 only had one speaker. I ordered these after serious research, and am blown away. The clarity of sound is astounding. I feel like the piano or violin or guitar is being played right next to me. I keep them permanently on 7 volume, adjust with computer, madcapped volume totally sufficient for my computer, and obviously much bigger and more powerful than most smaller 2.1 sets. Without a sub, that thump for some rap gone, but this is not a product deficiency, I'm going to pony up for sub now that know these are awesome. I noticed a significant, massively, improvement in sound quality placing them on stands. I bought the IsoAcoustics ISO-L8R155. Insanely overpriced, the stands, but didn't see any other options I liked. Don't even think of buying these without stands. The difference is astounding. I was really on the fence about shelling out about $275 for two speakers, by the time you pay tax and shipping. I got the Logitech $40 used on Craigslist. These were worth every penny, and would be even if they cost $100 more. The clarity and purity of the sound is almost impossible to overstate, versus even really good computer speakers. These speakers actually made me go back and listen to tons of music hadn't heard in awhile just to appreciate the richness of voices and instruments. One final note, I had a buddy in college decades ago who had JBLs blow on him, and they replaced them. That stuck out in my mind all these years later, when Klipsch unfortunately began cutting corners and selling inferior products. The tech guy at JBL Pro was super knowledgeable, and I feel like that factored into the decision a bit. Do not hesitate to buy these for computer use. They are worth every freaking penny and you will not regret the decision. You'll find room on even a small desk, and be happy you did, LOL. I might have gotten the 6" speakers, as they don't cost much more, If I had it to do over again, and will probably get the 8" for my home. Just to beat it to death, the clarity of the sound, the purity, the truth of it, is almost impossible to overstate. I am listening to John Denver, after Bruno Marrs, after Mariah Carey, after Benzino and NWA, and simply can't ever go back to cr$ppy 2.1 sets after just a few days of these.

Pretty darn good
I was deciding between this and other subs, like Klipsch 120SW. I got this because it's a studio sub that has balanced inputs, and has extended LF. At first, I wasn't impressed, but I had my settings wrong. It also made some coil noise, but that went away after I broke it in, which took like an hour. This thing can really bump. Granted, it's not a 12" sub, but for a 10" it goes really low. It can get loud too. I'm running it from my iMac --> Audient iD14 --> sub. It's paired with KRK Rokit 7" studio monitors. Sounds fantastic. I'll keep testing it just to make sure I'm keeping it. So far, so good. It vibrates my entire house because of the extended low frequency.

Best sub I’ve owned
This sub is powerful enough to shake my entire house & maybe the house over. I’m extremely satisfied with this product; I paired it with 2 jbl 308 mkll’s and it’s been everything I needed: loud but equally clear, punchy, and most importantly ACCURATE. I have Behringer dt 900 pro x’s which is a mixing & mastering headset thats overkill for someone who just listens to music…but I have always hated how if you don’t have quality ‘instruments’ to hear your music through, you will never hear the piece how the artist intended & this sub rock & monitor set rocks. Rocks better than my 2 12” box with 4 jbl clubs in my car & better than this professional headset. If your looking to get a sub I would get this for any use case. I waited about a year 1/2 for this sub to go on sale, waited all the way till black Friday and it just didn’t. This sub will last you over a decade, this technology is mature & jbl is a phenomenal brand which an emphasis on longevity.

Really decent monitor speaker for it's price range.
Ok, here it is......I have owned tis since April 2025 and while I don't think it is the best but for the price point;/ It is good. I craft my sounds in y home studio prior to live performances and I like to hear the real sound not EQ'd, muddy or tainted in any way. This speaker (bought a pair) gives me just about that and one tike I left a slight error in my sound, it picked it up and I heard the same when I used it in a live setting. With the vol knob between 5-6 and the EQ + HF trim flattened, I think it gives you a decent recreation of what to expect in a live performance. I have also used in mastering a track and I think it was decent at least better that my krk go (as expected). Deserves a solid 4 to 4.5 for it's effectiveness in mirroring your sound input. I might as well add that when paired with a sub, more clarity might be obtained but I prefer mixing without subs especially as not all live venues that I play in has subs so I need to factor in the Hi-pass in my set up.

For lower priced studio monitors, these are very hard to beat!
These speakers replace a very old (circa 2000!!) 2.1 setup of Altec Lansing computer speakers. I needed something more accurate and clear than the old setup so I went with these. How do they sound? I think for what they are, they sound great! Bass is nice but not boomy. Treble is sharp but not piercing. They are near field monitors so they won't blast your ears off, nor are they designed for such. They can get pretty loud though. For stereo imaging, they are also very good for soundstage placement. On the back of the monitor, there is a gain (volume) knob that is usually set to max. Also, there is a sensitivity selector either (+4 dB) for higher signal levels from your mixer / interface or whatever and -10dB for lower signal levels. That will give you a lot more gain at that setting. Most setups will have the switch at the +4dB setting as mine are. Also for the tweeter, there is a switch that reduces the output -2dB, the middle is flat, and the right setting is +2dB which will give a slight rise in the treble. I have mine set for +2 since my middle aged ears can't hear treble like they did in my early 20's. On the back for signal connections are TRS and XLR inputs, along with the input volume / gain, and power. My speakers are connected to an external interface, a Focusrite 4i4. Along with the speakers, I ordered a pair of TRS cables. If you have an interface and these speakers, use TRS cables! My speakers arrived earlier than expected so they outpaced the pair of TRS cables I also ordered for use with these speakers. I had some TS cables so I used those first. I heard noise from the computer when I moved the mouse and whatnot so that should tell you something. ALWAYS use balanced cables, whether they are XLR or TRS, when using these or any other monitors next to a computer. Next day the TRS cables came in and I switched the cables over to the TRS ones. And the noise went away. My only complaint is the power cords are very short. So a trip to WalMart for an extension cable with 3 plug-ins was in order. Aside from the short power cords, I'm thoroughly pleased with these speakers.

Amazing subwoofer to pair with JBL 308s! Must have if you're producing with a lot of sub bass.
I got mine for 25% off refurbished/used. I had a presonus monitor subwoofer before this and it just wasn't hitting the lows the way I wanted, rattled at low volumes even. I was actually thinking of returning it because I realized I impulsively bought this thing when I already have a sub. Once I plugged it in to at least try it, I knew I couldn't go back to the presonus. If you only have TRS cables you'll need to get an adapter for the output channels (XLR to TRW) . Input works with TRS or XLR. I have a pair of Jbl308 monitor speakers with my setup and these are the perfect pair and how it was meant to be. The crossover sounds so damn smooth after adjusting the boundary EQ accordingly. With those speakers the low pass on the subwoofer set to the lowest (80hz I believe) sounds best. The subwoofer works as a pre amp for the other monitor speakers. As soon as I swapped the presonus sub with this one immediately saw a HUGE difference with my jbl 308 monitor pair. It was much much clearer and louder. I did not even realize how much the presonus was diminishing the capabilities of the other monitor speakers in my setup. I am producing dubstep/edm and music where sub bass is very important and I need to hear the lowest lows without distortion or rattle. this thing has made it so much nicer to work on it. You can truly hear the sub bass very very clearly, allowing me to adjust the sub bass and add subtle textures/harmonics and really be able to mix/master and do sound design with ease especially with long sustainer sub basslines. Kicks sound absolutely amazing well. Before with the presonus I didn't get a real good feel for how percussion/kicks sounded... But with this you can really hear the subtle differences. I was worried it'd be too big to go under my desk but it fits better than the 8" presonus thanks to the higher placement of cable ports. No matter what you're making these are amazing speakers, but I think if you're making rnb or edm especially music with long sustained bass that needs to be sidechained with kicks, and fine tuned these are a must have. Don't go with a cheaper option, this is worth the extra money easily.

Little bump for that room you love to sit in
I paid $328 and some change after taxes. So I got a deal. This sub is okay. Is it worth $300-$400? That’s the golden question. I’m going to go cons first. 1. Sub sounds flat, not real punchy 2. Speaker is exposed underneath the cabinet. 3. No EQ adjustments 4. The cabinet is huge! Pros 1. XLR In/Out pass through are way nice. 2. Was able to go from my PC 1/8” jack to dual XLR. 3. XLR support from the sub to my studio monitors 4. Fils the rooms with some good house bass. All kinds of music and movies sound great through it. 5. Price point isn’t too bad 6. Quality of the cabinet is very nice
