Works perfect! Exactly what I wanted to accomplish.
I've had a pressure washer hooked up in my garage for years. When I go to wash vehicles it's always ready, just hit the button and blast. And then when I got introduced to using a deionized rinse I saw life getting even easier by eliminating the most "work intensive" step...the drying! I wanted something just as simple but also effective, something I can get several uses from before having to recharge, not take up a lot of space and something that I could recharge using bulk resin because I hate the idea of buying throw away canisters and paying 4 or 5 times as much for the material which is already expensive. Also, I wanted it to be easy to see how my resin is holding up. This unit accomplishes all of that. I can recharge the existing canisters keeping costs down, one glance and I can see how resin is holding up and the whole thing mounts on the wall and takes up minimal space. And all that for under a hundred bucks (and about $25 in PVC)! So far I've washed my truck about 3 times and my car twice and used maybe 3/4" of resin. I don't know how my water rates for contaminates (I'm on town water) but I can say it looks like I'm going to at least get the entire season out of this before having to refill the canisters. And it does work just like they say, after washing and rinsing a vehicle I just give it one last rinse with the DI water and walk away. It actually dries more spotless than using a chammy which still can leave streaks. One cloudy day (about all we get here in upstate NY lately!) my truck sat in the garage and took over a day to finally dry, yet, not one single water spot! Update: It's been a year now and I can report, as I was hoping, the canisters did - albeit barely - last the entire season! My bag of resin came in last week, I'm about to refill them for this season. Looks like I'll get several refills (seasons) out of this $60 bag. For what I have invested this has been a most worthwhile acquisition, love the way this works!

Does exactly what it says it does
I think some of the bad reviews on here are just from people who don’t understand the science behind how these work. This is meant to take total dissolved solids out of water by using chemicals in this resin to bind to and then break these solids up. It’s a chemical change and at a certain point (which the company even states is around 2000 TDS), yes, it will be depleted. The chemical runs out. That’s the limitation in how this resin works...it’s not really a function of how “good” this company’s product is. If you have water in the 200s which is ridiculously hard and you’re trying to process 30-40 gallons with this every time to do a car wash then I’d assume it would go fast. Like another reviewer said, it would probably be best for people with really hard water to first use an RO system with a tank to remove TDS first and then use this as the final polisher to bring it to 0. I’m fortunate to live in New York (where TDS is about 45) and so this works great. I don’t use it to wash my car but rather use it to fill a humidifier with demineralized water (too prevent scale ) and also for a fish tank to remove carbonates. It works great for both. Installation was easy, no leaks (if you remember to use the included plumbers tape) and has a high flow rate so that filling things don’t take forever. Measure the water every time and it always comes out 0 TDS every time. Straight from the tap. I’m not even prefiltering it. I’ve been using it for a week and the resin is still ocean blue so I think this will work. Love it

It works as advertise as long as you are willing to deal with some (well documented) negatives
BEFORE BUYING, read the reviews and questions. Know what you are getting so you can level your expectation. I was a bit skeptical and was about to purchase a more expensive spotless system that cost 3 times as much, but figured i'll give this a shot anyways. It WORKS and the feeling of not having to quickly run to the sunny side of my car to dry before it leaves spots, is amazing. Before buying this, I read that 1) the water flow is slow so you need to get a specific hose nozzle and be willing to deal with a slow rinse 2) you DO NOT use this for the whole wash, only the final rinse, and 3) depending on how bad your water is, the resin can go by very fast. Because i expected these and were willing to deal with the outcome, i was very satisfied with the unit. I do not have the nice setups with shut off valves like some of these reviews as i wanted to test this before mounting. Only thing i use is a valve splitter to run a separate hose, and purchased one of the hose nozzles recommended from Aquaticlife (i watched their video on the product page). Water pressure is low but with the nozzle, it works. I have the unit hooked up to my home water softer so i already have pretty decent water, but it still leaves small calcium (i'm assuming its calcium) spots. After installing the unit, i left 1 panel to dry by itself. No spots at all. Also only a small amount of my resin changed color after 2 washes (SUV and sports car), but again, i'm already softening the water. I suspect if i hooked this up to the water spout on the side of my house, the resin would go way faster.

GARBAGE - SEE MY ALTERNATIVE SUGGESTIONS
A company that makes RODI units for fish tanks should know that just using a DI filter is not enough to remove all TDS from water and maintain a flow rate capable of drenching a car. I should have know this too. Adding an ro filter will not provide enough pressure to spray a car, so this device is simply a way to consume DI resin with "spotty" results while wasting your time and money. Here are 2 solutions as I see it. 1. Get a true RODI filter unit and have it fill a 55 gal plastic drum with an auto shut off valve. Then use a pump, hose and nozzle to spray your car with true RODI water. Let it fill back up ready for the next wash. Depending on the filter setup it could take 48 hours to get 55 gallons of RODI water and you will burn through filters. Or... 2. Wash your car, and use Meguires (or equivalent) hybrid ceramic wax to finish the wash. This creates a hydrophobic coating where water easily sheds off of the surface just like rainx. Using just plain hose water is fine. Then, for the final step us an electric leaf blower to blow the water off your car. Be careful not to fry yourself by letting the cord sit in a puddle of water (battery blower is best). It works very quickly and effectively. You will remove 99% of the water. Use a drying cloth, chamois, or microfiber to get the remaining water off, and boom! You have a completely spot free car finish and you don't have any expensive consumables to replace. Hope this helps my fellow car enthusiasts!!!

Excellent DIY Car Wash Filter
Don’t know why a bunch of people have issues with this kit. I have rigged it up to fit my need and this filter works amazing. No more water spots on vehicles. The filter or its attachments do not leak. I’ve gotten used to how much water to send through the filters now. I get about 3-4 washes per filter. Less if it’s a large vehicle. For a DIY setup, this thing works amazing.

Final Report
Had for a few months now and done more than a few car washes with it. It does a decent job of removing most of the impurities in my water, however, you CANNOT just rinse and go. It is necessary to do a final, quick towel dry with a microfiber rag to avoid any light spots at all. Knowing that, I am still satisfied with the product. More later when I find out the limit of the catalyst cartridges. I have used this product for a few more months. The good is that it helps make the final appearance better. And it probably can save a little, very little, time over the usual wash, rinse, dry steps. The bad: output pressure is weak; the included sprayer is unimpressive (and looks like it tries to overcome the weak pressure); the output water smells chemical, like rotten mushrooms to me; you still have to dry off water spots, though they don't leave as much of residue; however, the cartridges look as though they will last me several more months of washes, but I'm not sure of their pattern of degradation. Would I buy this product again? I am not inclined to so so at this point. At this price it was worth the effort. I want more pressure and less residual spotting.

It works great.
Works outstanding. Im using a RV charcoal filter as prefilter prior to the DI unit. Straight from the nozzle my tds is 59 to 67 ppm. I ran about 1 gal to submerge resin. Tested TDS 002 ppm. It works phenomenal. Any having issues youll probably need more treatment prior to the unit or run 2 in series one without the choke one with. Yes you can use with pressure washer. The electric ones flow about 1 gpm max and works great. Update: numerous washes one at a another location other than my water supply the resin began to change color rapidly. I didnt do a test there but had to have alot of tds to change color that quickly. I just washed my car and at the end took a tds reading. Numbers dont lie this thing works. I will be changing resin at end of this season for next spring.

Good filter for the money
Ok, so I read all the bad reviews about this filter before I purchased it. I needed to know if it really was a bad system or if it was just a bunch of idiots that don’t know how to follow directions. So I pulled the trigger and ordered this spot free rinse system. Well let me tell you, if you follow the directions and use it correctly you’ll end up with a spot free vehicle that looks great. I’ve given my 2019 2500 HD a bath twice now and my black truck has come out spot free and shinny both times. As far as filter usage goes, after two rinses maybe a quarter of the filters have turned brown. Use these filters to do a quick final rinse. The objective here is to rinse off the tap water that has mineral deposits in it, not to use it during the entire wash process. I give this system five stars for the money and the time it saves me not having to dry my truck and the wax it just to make it look good. Bottom line, if it’s not working properly it’s most likely because it’s not being used properly.
