Moomin's Lift-The-Flap Hide and Seek: with Big Flaps for Little Hands

We got this Lift-the-Flap book right before my son turned 1, and at 17 months, it's still among his favorites. The book starts with Moomin and Little My playing hide & seek. At each opening, he looks for Little My. Is Little My in the tent? No, it's Snufkin. Is Little My behind the flowers? No, it's Hemulen. Is Little My in the pond? No, it's Stinky! <much laughter>... all the way to Little My being found under Moominpappa's hat. It's a lovely book with bold colors and simple, clear illustrations, so it's suitable even for the youngest readers. The design of the flaps is clever, and they are easy to lift, turn, or open, even for pudgy toddler hands. The paper is shiny & sturdy, and after 6 months of use, not a single detail has gotten ripped out (unusual). This one is definitely worth adding to any 1-2 year-old's bookcase.

This is a great book for learning to read. Yes, it has some unusual words in it, but my son thoroughly enjoys sounding them out and feels so accomplished when he does! It is short and sweet and keeps them actively involved.

This became one of my kid's favorite books as soon as she opened it. It's a good size with just the right number of pages. The pages are a heavy coated card stock and have some flexibility. I can bend them just slightly enough to make the flaps stand out from the page, which makes them easy for my kid to find and grab them. It's a much smarter design than the heavier pages of other hide and seek board books we have, which really make her work to find and lift the overlay. It's a sweet simple introduction to the characters of Moominvalley, which we'll continue to explore together as she gets older.

Bought this book for my brand new grandson. His mom has Moomin outfits for him, and the stuffed animals, too. The book is super cute with pop-ups. We read it to him now, but it will be so easy for him to manipulate the little pop-ups when he's older. His 3 year old sister likes the book, too.

Our 15 month old LOVES this book. The flaps are large and easy for him to lift up. He was literally laughing is butt off looking under the flaps. Between the wife and I, we had to read it to him 5 times yesterday morning before day care. He was carrying it around and wouldn't let it go. Definitely a great purchase for a little one.

We love this series of Moomin books. I grew up reading them as kid and these are a great primer to get the little one into the characters from a young age. This one isnt a board book, which I wish we would have figured out before we ordered (our one year old is into ripping pages). The colors are very nice and the book is well made.

My toddler really loves this one. He now knows the names of the characters.

I think it is great, but the construction will not withstand the abuse of a one-year-old. The flaps can easily be torn off the pages. We will have to put it away for at least another year.

Our daughter loves the flaps in the book and Moomin is always a favourite character in our household.

Our son loves this book. The pages are paper (thick paper), but that means the flaps can be torn off and pages have sharp corners. We have purchased a "back up" for when all the flaps are torn off the original.
