Definitely unique, but hard to buy at its price
This was one of those items that went in and out of my shopping cart over the course of a month before I finally bought it.As far as motion sculptures go, this one is incredibly captivating in its simplicity. There's not much to it when it comes out of the box and goes on your desk or shelf. Clean lines and nearly silent motion. I've had it for months now, and still find it interesting to watch. I always hope it will get stuck upright, but alas, gravity finds a way.The price point still seems insanely high for what you're getting, but that's true broadly speaking for unique decorations. With the near silent operation and long battery life (still haven't changed the batteries after a couple months) it's clear there's some care involved in its construction.

This is a work of art.
The price is absurd if you place it in the context of utility because it doesn't really have any. Utility is not the purpose here. This is not an appliance, it is a beautiful piece of kinetic art. It looks great, grabs the attention of guests, and it runs for months on the same set of batteries. I've paid more for paintings that I enjoyed less. If you think this sculpture is a good piece of art, the price will be worth it. If it doesn't suit your tastes, or you don't believe in paying for art, it's not for you. This is, however, my favorite piece of art in my house.

Doesn't last forever...
This is my second one. First one bought back in 2013 or so - lasted 5 years before it gave up. This one, bought in 2018 just died a couple of weeks ago. Not sure what the fault is, it's been running the whole time, never jostled or dropped so no loose wires or anything. I'm guessing the magnet simply runs out of juice, even with new high end batteries it moves for a minute or so when started, then dies.Overall, I love it. Which is why after buying 2 of these 300$ items over the last 7 or so years and feeling cheated, I still have given it a 3 star. Just know that this will fail eventually

bro its my prized possession
dude this thing has kept me sane during the lockdown. no idea why. i would just stare at this thing for hours and contemplate the meaning of life while it kept me company. the battery life lasts forever and it looks amazing on my desk, its gotten to the point where i do not go a single morning without greeting it "goodmorning" before work. totally worth it, although my coworkers believe i've gone insane.

Wow....I love this thing.
Even at times when I am stuck on a conference call for 2 hours I can watch this thing on my desk and it has a weird calming effect. It has no pattern, and it is totally silent. I don't know what else to say, this is just an extremely cool thing.Yes, I put it in and out of my Amazon cart a couple of times before I pulled the trigger for this price...but now, honestly, I would not take this thing off my desk for three times the price.

pretty cool
nice to watch when you're super bored. or to see over there a movin for some reason.update:well it WAS nice. after about 6 months it stopped working. i've been very careful with it.now it just swings back and forth and the small stick barely moves.

Perfect for Synchronizing with the Stock Market
There's this odd connection to the unpredictability of this sculpture and the stock market. It almost seems to sync perfectly with short term volatility and has led to some seriously considerable moves leading to secured profits. I am by NO means saying this works for everyone, but it definitely helps. I recommend this product.

What you should know
This sculpture is really great in many points. It's easy to build (1 piece to embed in the other), there is indeed no sound from the swings and it's a well made object, not a cheap one. However, you must not forget that it requires batteries (which are included in the pack). But since it needs energy (batteries) to work indefinitely, I'm not sure I can call this perpetual motion (although it does with them). Again in our real world, friction and air resistance always blow our ideal.Otherwise, it's pretty good to look at something else than perpetual motion, something like chaos and its features, something like sensitive dependance on intial conditions, which is nice.Think about your choice carefully, that little object is still a bit expensive! ;)
