Amazing instrument
What a great instrument. Beautifully presented in spalted maple, quality construction and great tone right out of the case. Easily played with no adjustments and electronics are quite efficient and effective. And the vendor…. Great price and delivery was fast and as promised. Thank you, Austin Bazzar

Small package, big sound
This was my first time to try a U-Bass, I had been eyeing the Kala Journeyman for some time now. I finally took a chance and ordered one, and I was not disappointed. The instrument was well packaged, played great right out of the box, and it's appearance is even better in person. I found no problems with playability, though it does take getting used to. It sounded good acoustically. Plugged it in to a practice amp, where it sounded even better. Then played it through a house system, where it just sounded amazing.Depending on the strings used, you will have to play with the on-board EQ. I have the Kala Metal Round Wound strings, so I had to dial back mid and treble due to string noise. That really was no issue for me, as I had hoped to get a sort of "upright bass" tone, and was not disappointed.I highly recommend this product!

I highly reccommend this. It's a lot of fun to play, doesn't hurt your fingers no matter how soft they are, and is the only bass of its size out there right now. It is far too quiet to play with any other instrument acoustically, but sounds amazing amped. I would buy it even if it's just to screw around on by yourself though. Now whether you should buy this or a cheaper uke bass without accessories is up to you. Mine was a darker color than what the picture shows and isn't quite as shiny and wavy, for lack of a better term, but still looks somewhat exotic and definitely high quality. Mine came with a padded bag although the bad in the picture doesn't appear to be padded, so that was a plus, but came with a microphone cable rather than a quarter inch cable. I emailed Austin Bazaar about it and within 2 days I recieved the right cable in the mail without a word from them. I also got to keep the microphone cable. The Uke Bass itself arrived quickly also. All in all, I am very pleased, but would reccommend buying the cheapest uke bass by Kala you can find because they are around the same quality, they come with a bag already, and the rest of the stuff is really cheap to buy seperately.

Great little Bass.
Love the size. A lot easier to set up than my full sized bass when I want to get my thump on!

Loving it now but ouch
Ok. I have had it a week and after a few tweaks, (changing out the batteries and reseating strings) I am loving this u bass.First thing you should know if you are plugging into an amp:. When you playground a cable into the bass, it thinks you want to use the built in tuner to tune up, so it cuts the output to the amp. Make sure your volume is down when you press the little button to turn off the tuner then turn up.The strings are weird as hell but once you figure out how to work with them, it sounds great. The e and a strings are super fat and the a string will buzz if you press too hard. A much lighter touch is needed. My only issue: the a string "broke" last night. And something was rattling inside. I unscrewed the access plate on the back and saw the string had not broken. It had slipped out of it's zip tie anchor. The d and g strings are thinner and are hand knotted on the inside, the e and a strings are too fat to knot, so they are tightly zip tiped in a loop. My a string had slipped out. Luckily I have a ton of zip ties and just removed the string, re zipped it and restrung it. It's fine. The sound is very nice. A bit like an upright bass, you can play all day of the strings and not hurt your fingers. Sliding is a bit more difficult, but not impossible. And of course the 20" scale putes everything practically under your hand. The access panel in the back is screwed in. I wonder how that will hold up if I have to go in there too much.Acoustically, it is not very loud. I have a gallien kreuger 500watt amp it sounds great thru it.The preamp/tuner takes a 2032 watch type battery. Not sure yet how long it will last. I had it on all day yesterday and it's still good.Update. The fret ends on this bass are seriously in need of some work. So I dinged a star. Sharper than a mother in law's tongue they are. Its a shame because in every other way this is a nicely done uke bass for the price. I have fret files and will take care of the fret ends, but another half hour of work in the factory and I wouldn't have to.

You will have to pay for the return shipping cost
The base is buzzing on most frets on all but one string. Even after loosening the strings and tuning them again, the problem persist to the point that it’s too noticeable to keep playing.Be aware that that even if the instrument has problems, you will have to pay for the shipping cost.

Love it so very much!!!
I been playing bass for decades and I can tell you this thing is amazing. It looks beautiful. It sounds amazing unplugged and amplified. It almost plays itself. The case was just super good quality. What more can I say. I love it!
