Not very authentic versions of recipes
While I can only speak to the Lithuanian recipes in this book, I am finding that they are not very authentic. I have spent significant time in Lithuania and grew up in Chicago which is home to the largest Lithuanian population outside of Lithuania. If you want variations on recipes/ingredients then this book is OK. But for authenticity, I encourage you to look elsewhere.

Awesome book
I am so happy to receive this book again. I ordered 2 copies. I know that my Latvian and Lithuanian girlfriends will love this gift! Though there are many somewhat “different” recipes that I had never heard of, there are many well known and loved favorites. And the pictures are incredible! Thank you!

good representation of regional food
I had a chance to go on a tour of the 3 Baltic countries and was glad to find a book representing the food of the former HamburgerHansa Nations . It was summer and the food was fresh , seasonal and tasty . This book represents traditional recipes and thepictures and stories that go with it . It is as much a history book as a cookbook with recipe background , which I enjoy . Lovely picturesof the people and their activities in the introduction , just enough to get a feel of the region . Great photos of the food and helpfulhints on preparation with detail pictures . I highly recommend this book for cooking and armchair travel . Enjoy it !

interesting but limited
This is an interesting cookbook, but not very extensive or thorough - only 60 recipes in total, representing three unique cultures! However, I found the recipes from Latvia (my heritage) to be a bit odd. My Latvian family has lots of excellent traditional cooks, and I grew up eating Latvian food all the time, cook Latvian food myself, but I have never even heard of some of these dishes. Not to say there's anything wrong with the recipes, but I would suggest that they might not exactly be the typical Latvian food one would find on the table in a traditional Latvian household. I would have proably picked very different foods to represent what is traditional Latvian cuisine. That being said, it makes me wonder about how representative or typical the recipes form the other countries might be, but just the same, nice pictures and an interesting overview of Baltic cuisine.

DAMAGED BOOK
Disappointed! Page was ripped and since it’s a gift it’s really annoying and ruined.

I love this book so much
I love this book so much! As a Latvian it's great to have all kinds of recipes from the same area. Always turns out good. Love the pictures and description.

Very nice book
this cooking book is ideal for everyone who likes a bit of difference in their cooking and also makes a very nice present. beautiful and professional photographs accompany each recipe. there are some quite unusual recipes which invite the housewife to try them out. what is missing is the wide variety of dishes the baltic cuisine has for the use of cottage cheese. but in general the book can be recommended to everyone who likes new cooking experiences as well as a really lovely present for home cooks in the west.

Great book!
After visiting Latvia and trying the best food I've ever tasted, I decided to buy this book! Although it didn't have a steak recipe in like the one I was particularly looking for, it was still an excellent buy! There's a lot of very interesting information at the beginning about Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and their cuisines. It was easy to read and well laid out, with lots of pictures. The recipes are also laid out well and are very simple to follow, and, although there's not hundreds of them, they are all of excellent quality and are absolutely delicious! After searching online for good Latvian recipes, this book really provided a lot more than I had seen before.Overall it's an excellent quality book, and probably my most interesting and prized recipe book! (and I have LOADS!) Definitely worth buying!

Terrible Recipes..
This book is a big let down.. Especially the Cepelinai, the author 1000% did not try this recipe in thier own book.. Because it misses out several integral points..Just go on YouTube and save your £12Returned.
