Cardio 3
I bought this after reading numerous amazon reviews. This is an excellent stethoscope. It's a bit pricier than some, but it has been invaluable to me as a student. I have noticed I have an easier time identifying the presence of murmurs than some of my fellow students with simpler models. I had always had difficulty with my previous stethoscope and worried that my ears were simply not sensitive. This model has put my mind at ease. There are certainly fancier stethoscopes out there, but if you're looking for a high quality basic model this is it.

Good feel, good sound
I have an old HP Sprague Rappaport, which I've loved for about 20 years, but can't find parts for it anymore. I think because I was used to the weight of it, the smaller scopes never felt right. Also, I wanted something that felt "quality." I was used to that heavy, precision head on the HP. I wasn't particularly fond of the dual diaphragms (even though they make sense) - so I ordered this because it can have the smaller diaphragm changed into a bell. I also ordered a cheap knock-off of this scope, which was about 1/3 the price. The cheaper one had quite good sound, and looked really nice, but the plastic, the head, and the diaphragm were just a bit below the "quality" feel I was looking for. (Caution: stethoscopes sometimes cannot be returned due to health/safety reasons - although that one could.) This scope, on the other hand, felt really nice. The metal feels solid, the head feels precision, and all the weight of it feels substantial, like my old HP. I think the sound might be a bit better. I liked the fact that with the HP you could replace the tubes with just about any old rubber tubes, but with this one it looks like you have to buy a whole new scope almost when the plastic goes bad - but friends have had these for quite a while and they seem to last a long time. I took off the small diaphragm and made it into the bell option, which makes me like the look a bit better - and I don't see peds right now anyway. Overall, quite happy. Good sound, and the look is a bit updated compared to the HP.

Unless you are a dedicated cardiologist, this is ALL you'll ever need!
I bought this at the beginning of PA school, and man was it overkill, haha! Don't perceive that in negative connotation though, it has been and is an awesome tool! As far as I'm concerned, it covered everything I needed it for through didactic year, as well as clinical rounds year. In fact, it was more adept than most of the physicians' and PAs' steths I worked with. I worked in cardiac rehab before PA school and can add that this steth will cover everything you need there too! It has a great bell and diaphragm. For the money, this thing is the best!

Has lasted a LONG time
The Cardiology III is one of the best -- it was actually recommended by my medical school (OSU-COM), and I have had my original stethoscope since. The main components are working well still, and the only thing that had required replacement once over the last 8 years was a diaphragm and a set of ear pieces; it's held up after leaving the stethoscope in my car numerous winters. I bought a new one for in case I lose my original. It is worth the investment as you can hear murmurs, crackles, rhonchi, etc. easily with this scope. I also love the ability to switch to a pediatric stethoscope, and this is indispensable for a family physician. It is not as fancy as the electronic versions, but really, this is all you need inpatient or outpatient in my scope of practice.

Worth every cent!
I bought this scope to replace a Prestige Clinical I Stethoscope that I recently returned. This scope is worth every cent of the higher price. I could barely hear anything from the Prestige, but can hear sounds much more clearly with this scope. Plus it is much more comfortable, there are fewer "static" sounds from touching the tubes, it comes with extras and a clearly written instruction manual, and it feels built to last. It is more adaptable to different needs and would be suitable for anyone whose hearing is not 100% or works in somewhat noisy conditions. All in all the Prestige Clinical I Stethoscope seems a cheap knock off of this scope.

Bad quality
The tubing is hard, not flexible and transmission of heart sound is very bad.

Great choice for the money
The first one I ordered had a sticky tube so I returned it to Amazon, no problem, no questions asked. The new one they sent in exchange works great. I love this stethoscope. It is a back up to my other cardio III. The chest piece quickly flips to a bell which is most convenient. I feel like heart and lung sounds come in nice and clear. Great choice for the money.

Great stethoscope!
I love all the features of this stethoscope! The ear tips are soft and have a good seal (and you get two extra pairs included). The sound quality is great. I like that it is easily used for adults or children by flipping the diaphragm. It also converts to a traditional bell if you need to use it. I noticed that my son's pediatrician and my doctor also have the same one, and this one was required for my nurse practitioner program.

Superb
Superb stethoscope. Accoustics excellent. The quality and utility reflects the years they have been refining the design.I previously had a fancy electronic strhoscope - which was a definite step up from my basic one. But after 8 years that wore out, the accoustics affected by electrical interference etc. This one is just as good as my electronic one was in its heyday, mechanically simpler and cheaper.I would recommend it to anyone at any level.
