Order received promptly and as advertised. The ribbed section is a bit short for my tastes and as such a larger size in general might be preferable. The wood finish and construction is a plus. Light with minimal deliberation is optimal when striking the instrument. Using opposite ends of the striker yields a varied output.

Good organic sound, nice wooden feel
I like this guiro a lot. It's a little to quiet for a live setting, unless you have it mic'd up. Very good for recording studio use.

Exactly what I hoped for
Sounds great. Its hollow with holes for your thumb and finger, it seems good and sturdy. It’s long enough to get a lotta nice rhythms. This is the one to go with.

Good it's small but most use a microphone went using it with a live band.
Easy to carry it's small, sound ok but the band that I play with uses brass and percussion must use a microphone in order to be heard. ffsalsa/ff

I know there are times for different styles of guiro, but this really does do the job, in a small package, for a great price. Highly recommend!

I guess it's considered a toy, but I actually thinkIt fits well in my hand, being small. For learning purposes and small ensembles it is really all I need. Very sturdy feel but not too heavy to control.
