Strike Witches: 1937 Fuso Sea Incident Vol 1

Having watched the companion Anime's two seasons this is an enjoyable read that explains how one of the Anime's main characters, Mio Sakamoto, began her career. Keep in mind that this series puts very young girls into potentially deadly situations and, while no characters die in the main groups covered, some do suffer injuries of varying severity. The story does nod to many of the traditional Japanese manga cliches, but it stays on it's target and the artwork is always good.

I enjoy watching and reading about the Strike Witches . And how they started out on their way to become the Strike Witches. And I enjoy the characters and their story they are telling me too.

This manga elaborates on Mio's backstory before she joined the 501st JFW, and expands on the action in Fuso referenced in Suomus Misfits. It also provides an interesting look at the early development of the Striker units and early war against the Neuroi war. A must-read for any Strike Witches fan.
