Refresh Your Rod Handles
I refreshed 4 different saltwater rods with this. 2 of these were Calstar 700MH (not cheap rods). The results are amazing. The foam was dry and had started flaking off over years of being stored, but this wrap totally refreshed them and they look amazing now.I would go with the 40mm size since 35mm barely fit on one rod (if the handle has experienced any swelling the 40 would be best. It still shrinks to fit so better safe than sorry).

Works great
Due to my rod handle size, I ordered the 35mm diameter sleeve. When slid them over my rod handles, it seemed way bigger than I expected. But I used my wife's hair dryer on high and it shrunk tightly against the old cork handle. I checked the hair dryer temperature and it was about 180 degrees. At that temp, I went over the area several times to make sure it had shrunk completely, and it did. A "heat gun" may work better/quicker, but the hair dryer did the job also. This product looks nice and feels great. I have several more older rod handles to cover that are a little smaller in diameter and will probably get the 30mm diameter for them. My rod handles were 1-1/4 inches in dia so I used the 35mm (~1-3/8 inches). I like this product.

Works great for lawn tools!
I bought the green one to wrap my rake so I didn’t have to either buy a new one, or perform foreign body removal from my hands after I held the rake. It fit perfectly and with my heat gun, it adhered really well to the splintering wood. There is a nice little texture to it as well. Better than the typical shrink wrap. I would have liked more of it included, but thats my problem. It never crossed my mind until I wanted to shrink wrap everything in the garage! Clearly lawn tools are significantly longer than the grip of a fishing pole. I haven’t fished much since the ole divorce and my son thinking it was boring, so I can’t speak to if your pole will go flying into the lake when you cast, but for other grips, its the bomb! Perhaps I need to go fishing this summer so I can try it as intended! He only took his gear ;-).

Works Great For Fenwick HMG 7 ft MH
Only cut 1/16th longer than you need. Works wonderfully. I used a heat gun. I love my Fenwick rods...these Fenwick rods are only 7/8 th at the thickest point { on baitcasters} so I ordered the 1 inch wrap..Worked perfectly. All my other rods are thicker. The Fenwick rods have fake cork ..so when the fake part starts peeling off..this heat shrink is WONDERFUL..I've already fished with the rod...feels much better...not as slick...the Fenwick blanks are wonderful but their fake cork is too slick..I've had Florida bass pull the entire rod out of my hand before.Pastor Chuck

Easy, inexpensive fix for your old fishing rods.
I recently bought two used Penn Long Beach fishing rods for a great price. the rods and guides were in great shape but the foam grips had deteriorated. This heat shrink wrap solved the problem perfectly. I was able to do both rods with one 40" length of wrap. The new grips look and feel good.I started by using a professional hair dryer that gets very hot. I just did a small section and it worked but not that well and it took a long time. I used a heat gun for the remainder of the job and that worked much, much better. The existing grips are 30mm so I ordered the 35mm wrap and it worked perfectly. It was easy to slide on and it shrunk nice and tight onto the grips. While the wrap will shrink up to 50% of it's original size, I did NOT find that the length changed at all.

Nice handles
I used this to cover metal flashlights. I walk a few hours a day, often before sunrise (when isn't in in Winter?). Carrying a cold flashlight isn't fun so bought this shrink tubing to cover the metal. It works perfectly. As a bonus, the heat shrink covers the on/off button sealing it against the elements. The bright (yellow) is kinda ugly but makes them easy to find (the reason I bought ugly yellow).

Easier than I thought it would be
I used it to cover the aging cork grips on my favorite rod. For me it didn't shrink lengthwise at all so it was easy to measure. Only a small heat gun was needed and the wrap just shrunk into place. I left a little extra at one end on purpose that I was able to heat a few times and got it to wrap around the butt nice and neat. No trimming required. Just be sure to make your cuts square. This cannot be overstated. I think it will last a long time but can't rate durability yet. Watch the YouTube videos.

Great product
Works as intended! It’s durable and easy to use once you get enough practice.. my first time using heat shrink on my fishing pole, I did horrible. Now I feel like a pro! I bought this stuff to use on my bigger rods. Being that I go to the jetty or rocky areas as to where I’m using rocks as rod holders, I needed to protect the rod handles from the wear and tear that the rocks would have on them. This is the protection you want and it looks great too! And I actually used some on a hatchet as well.
