Winter's Crossing - James Galway & Phil Coulter

These arrangements express the Irish immigrant experience from the sad to the cheerful. It is meaningful for me as a descendant of potato-famine Irish.

I already own James Galway's other book "Celtic Legends" and loved it so much that I decided to buy this one as well. I had not listened to the CD before, which I would recommend doing before you get it. My sister and I started playing through the book, and it was not what I was expecting. Some of them are very repetitive and somewhat new age sounding. The further we went, the more we liked it. However, there are a few gems. My favorites are "Thousands are Sailing," "The Gartan Mother's Lullaby," and "Home Away From Home." I bought this book mainly because I needed more wedding prelude music, and I will certainly use the three songs that I just mentioned!

I bought this for two songs, and they were both easy to learn and very fun to play. However, not all the songs have guitar chords and that was half the reason I bought the music. If all the songs had chords I'd give this a five star rating.

This was a fine product but what wasn't mentioned in Amazon's write up of the product was that it is for flute with piano.

A musical story of people force from their homeland. A masterful and moving collection performed by Phil Coulter and James Galway at he front with many other talents filling in. Music that makes you feel.

Another winner for Coulter! He is, and this CD is without a doubt one of the finest. This music soothes the mind and takes away the stress. This is a smile for the soul.

The melodies in this collection are not the least bit impressive. They seem like something a writer would doodle while waiting for a good idea. Repetitive and bland. I've enjoyed some combined efforts from Galway and Coulter in the past, but I think I'll look elsewhere for a while.

Bit annoying with the flute written part getting in the way if you only want for solo piano

Unfortunately too difficult for my basic piano skills.BUTbeautiful book and beautifully presented. A credit to wonderful music
