Review: Cat with IBD - My cat has IBD and although I have tried probiotics before, they never fully stopped the diarrhoea. However after finding Proviable DC my cat has been totally different. Although she is 9yrs old she now runs about like a kitten. The diarrhoea has completely gone and she looks so much healthier, her coat is lovely and soft. She has 1 capsule every day and I just break the capsule open and sprinkle it on her food. The vet asked me the other day for the name of these capsules, so that she can recommend them to someone else with a cat who has IBD. Review: Happier IBD cat - My cat was diagnosed with IBD this last year (after many Vet visits/tests/meds), and was put on steroids for the foreseeable future. While the Vet prescribed a fairly low daily dose (2mg), the recommendation was to reduce this if at all possible. We tried, but within a few days of the reduced meds she'd have another "episode", so we reverted back to the original dose. Now, anyone who has a pet on steroids will know that they'll start putting on weight, and she was getting a bit porky. After a little internet research, probiotics came up time & again as a possible complimentary addition to her meds, as well as a change in diet. The diet thing takes a while to have any noticeable effect, though she did seem better on allergen-free foods (although she's not keen on them!) Proviable DC seemed, from reviews, to be the Holy Grail of probiotics, and was certainly more highly recommended than plenty of other products. But, it doesn't seem to be available at all (other than online imports) in the U.K. (why is that, does anybody know?), and certainly my vet had never heard of it. So I took the plunge & ordered a bottle. My cat has been on them now for abaout 6 weeks and is noticeably much better. She's lively, alert, her toilet duties are more regular and "solid", and we've been able to halve her steroid prescription now to 1mg a day with, so far, not an "episode" in sight. So, for me at least (and for my cat it seems), a wonderful product. Whether it's coincidence or a combination of Proviable and diet change I don't know, but either way my cat seems so much happier and comfortable, so I won't hesitate in ordering another (larger) supply.

When my greyhound had stomach and intestinal issues a few years ago, our vet gave her a heavy-dose procedure using this brand's probiotics. Afterwards, he said I should provide my dog a smaller sized pill every night. Sure enough, for the last 18 months, she hasn't had any issue using this size of the product. The ingredients in this product do a tremendous job. As my vet said, it puts the good "germs" in her stomach and keeps the "bad" ones at bay. Foods alone don't often provide sufficient protection. The fact that our veterinary hospital uses this brand tells me a lot too. It's also a plus that I can get this on Amazon, as not all stores carry this, and like the other things I buy on Amazon, the price is good too.

This product has worked amazingly for my dog. The box I ordered came damaged, but it was sealed and the product inside was fine.

This works well for my rescue pup that has always had stomach issues (he doesn't have any diarrhea issues, just tummy and reflux issues). He had a lot of reflux issues and often times had really loud grumbling tummy noises at night and early AM. We tried all kinds of things to help (no medical isseus that we could find) and although a raw and freeze dried diet helped a lot (and NO food with pork), we decided to add this to his food to see if it helped. It works like a charm. We've been using it for about a year now and during that time, I've only heard his tummy once and it was not nearly as bad as it used to be and his reflux is almost completely resolved. I've tried other probiotics but none have worked as well as this one and I like how it has a multiple strains of beneficial bacteria, whereas many others only have one type. And the price point is a bit better than the other one I used to use for my older senior pup.

It's a shame that vets in Canada (at least in Toronto) don't carry nutramax, my kitten has been having diarrhea for a while and our vet gave us fortiflora. It helped alittle bit but the amount of animal digest in it upset my cat's very sensitive stomach (he can't even eat treats). It only had one strain of bacteria, and no guaranteed analysis anywhere, not even online. I did a little research and found nutramax proviable, this is pretty decent price for 80 capsules, and it's worked wonders for my kitten, now he has relatively normal stool. I was worried because this being a probiotic has the chance for bacteria loss in bad weather during shipping but the shipping was very fast and arrived a few days early and in great condition.

The vet suggested a probiotic after we took our cat in after she was constantly throwing up and had lost a dangerous amount of weight. First the vet did a bunch of tests that cost us a ridiculous amount of money and I wish she had suggested a probiotic first, because it turns out that it was exactly what our himilayan cat needed. Himilayan's are a sensitive breed that tend to have stomach troubles. We first bought purina fortiflax from the vet, but she told us that any good probiotic would do and to look around for a better price product if we wanted. I did some research and proviable was the best reviewed product for a much better price. Our cat still throws up a tiny bit - I'm tracking once a month - but she has gained a ton of weight and is in much better health. I open the capsules and mix it in her wet food. It's not as delicious as the fortiflax from her reaction, but my cat eats it no problem. It has been a miracle for her.
