Best Purchase by far
Best purchase I've made since I got my chickens. Our water has not froze in negative temps in Indiana. I use a large flower watering canister to fill it but I removed the end of it so it fits perfectly without making a mess to fill it. Plus you can use this year round. Its a game changer and makes having chickens much easier, less mess, less stress and you're not having to clean a waterer out daily. Don't think just buy it you won't regret it

Great water device for chickens.
This water works great for the chickens. Like it says it keeps the water clean. We had older chickens so it took a little longer to introduce them to the water device. It heats swell in the winter to keep the water running free.

All year round water. Doesn't freeze.
Well worth the money. This water keeps the water from freezing all winter long. I check it after freezing night. The ripples show little ice but as soon as you press on them water comes out. Chickens ne er have an issue going without water all winter long. The water is nice all year round keeping the water fresh and easy to fill. Definitely recommend.

Works well, but needs to have the right cord alignment. (changed from negative review)
Great design, except for the cord attachment, which I'll mention later. I like the extra long cord, and the fact that it connects at the bucket so I can use it for the summer and winter. The flip top opening makes refilling super easy. As far as the cord attachment goes, there is a small notch that is supposed to assure proper alignment, but it is super easy to connect the plug the wrong way. This means that you have a 66% chance of plugging it in wrong at the bucket and it won't work. I had just purchased this waterer a few weeks ago. I thought it was working fine but after several days of it being around 20 degrees, I realized that the water was frozen on the top and the nipples weren't working. It took some scouring, but on their own website it mentions that it is "easier than they would like" to attach the plug the wrong way. Went back out and found a very small notch that is easily missed for alignment. Also then found an arrow that is supposed to help alleviate this issue as well that is lightly engraved on the plug itself. Thus far I would recommend the product as it warmed up and thawed overnight. Just be aware of the plug alignment. If the company reads this, it would be helpful for the plug to be designed in a way that it only plugs in correctly, or a sticker be added to the product with a disclaimer/warning about the alignment.

Winter Must Have
I have two of these and they are amazing! Keep them out of the wind and the nipples will not freeze on the outside. They withstood -11 degrees with no issues. Be sure to wipe the edge dry after filling before you put the lid on to keep the lid from freezing to the bottom. It prevents the flock from getting frostbite on their wattles since they stay dry and keeps humidity low in the run since its not an open water source.

Buyer beware!
Purchased late summer (2025) to prepare for the mid-west winter season. 1 of 2 waters purchased is defective and completely freezes even when using the heat function. Refund or replacement is not an option due to being outside the return policy / timeframe. Unfortunately, I would not have been able to test its effectiveness before winter. Terrible product reliability and customer service! 1 star is generous considering this product put my chickens at risk.

Great product for chicken lovers
The product is made well I think it’s cool that you can take the electric cord out of the back in the summer and put a cap on it so it doesn’t get dirty on the outlet. It’s supposed to be insulated enough so that you could put ice cubes in it for the summer and then plug it in in the winter and keep it warm and because it doesn’t let light in the water doesn’t get algae. Chicken seemed to adapted pretty quickly. I think this product will work for me in the long run.

Watch that plug!
I bought this waterer in 2019. Has been wonderful since day 1. Has never frozen during snowy winters, keeps water clean. Doesn’t drip. Never really gave it another thought until today. Went out to check the water level after many days of 20 degrees and I was shocked to find the little drinking ports frozen and there was 1/4 inch thick ice on top. I got it all thawed out and filled up and rehung in coop. I figured the waterer had just worn out. I pulled up Amazon and started reading reviews and guess what I found? A review by angiepearl that solved the mystery. I am in charge of the animals but last week I was painting my pantry and asked my husband to go check the chicken waterer for me. He did, said he added some water and rehung it. He is not very careful about being precise about putting things together. I know there is only one way the plug goes in. He on the other hand didn’t even notice that. So while I’m thinking my waterer needs to be replaced, I realized he must have plugged the cord in wrong and that is why the water froze. Angiepearl’s review immediately jogged my memory that I was not the last one to check the water level. My waterer is still perfect after all these years. 5 stars aren’t near enough.
