Good value for the price
bought to replace phone that was damaged in a bike accident. This phone does what I would expect it to. Nothing fancy, but for the price, it is excellent value for money. Internet connection can be a bit dodgy, but that may be the internet or te phone so I can't pass judgement on that. Overall, a cheap phone that provides value for money

A few positives, but lots of niggles
I've been using this phone as a replacement for my Samsung galaxy s4 mini which was on its last legs. I'd never heard of Medion before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. After a few days' use, I can't say I'm a convert! The phone definitely has some good points. It has a slim, sleek build, looks pretty good and the materials don't feel particularly cheap. The screen resolution is excellent, and everything looks crisp and bright. There is a digital manual provided on the phone which is useful, and the phone's settings menus are easy to navigate. The Android operating system is reliably good as usual. The phone seems quick to respond to commands with no lag or freezing so far when using it offline. When the notifications system works, it's great to see all your texts, emails etc listed on the screen without having to unlock it. However, those are the only positives I can think of.The negatives are more obvious. The first annoying thing is that it's not recognised by my network provider as a device which can be automatically set to use my data allowance. As such you have to ring up and get the details of your network's mobile settings and enter them manually which is a hassle and which I have yet to be able to do successfully. Normally you can just received a text with the settings on but this doesn't work on this phone.Secondly, the phone has more than once randomly decided to stop recognising my SIM card and then require it to be set as the primary SIM again, something I haven't encountered before.Thirdly, whether or not you receive a notification for certain things, particularly WhatsApp messages, seems to be a lucky dip - sometimes you don't see new texts or messages until actually entering the specific app to look for them.Fourthly, the internet doesn't seem to be as quick on the phone as it is on my very old tablet using the same wireless network, which doesn't say much for it.Fifthly, the camera is not good. The resolution may be high but focusing is awful and the colour balance in low light is very poor with everything coming out dark and drab looking.Of course this is a budget phone so you can't expect the same level of performance as phones that cost twice or three times as much, but there are too many niggles here that could easily be fixed for me to recommend it. With a bit more work, this could be a great phone for the lower end of the market, but at the moment it is a bit frustrating.

A nice responsive big screen, perfect entry level features.
I've never heard of Medion phones before, and I've been pleasantly surprised. Our basic touchscreen smartphone, has been a little slow and frustrating of late. We needed something a little 'smarter', quicker, and easier to use. The P5005 is not perfect, but it's getting there. It's super easy to set up, with a battery, sim and memory card to insert, and switch on. As a previous google account holder, one simple log in means it all updates automatically. My apps, contacts and documents are all there. The screen is nice and big, and responsive. The android driven apps are all there, and easy to organise. It's a good operating system. Perfectly adequate.Sound is good, and headphones plug in easily. My niggle is the camera - it's not fabulous. It is though, better than our old one so we'll cope! The back feels a little plasticky, and as such phone cases are hard to find. We have found a 'pouch' type case to protect it though. It's a step up for us, so we're happy. But considering the price point, I'd have liked a better camera, and a less plasticky finish for the back. Hence 4 stars.

Solid budget 3G choice
The Medion brand is a German brand that I'd never heard of before. I'm currently using a hand-me-down LG G3 which a good full featured phone but is shocking on battery life (even with a brand new battery), so I was really keen to try out this phone. The phone is a good standard, especially for the price point, and I can't really compare it to the features of the LG G3 because the original price of the LG was significantly greater. However I would expect to be able to use the 4G network - the Medion P5005 is only a 3G phone, a major drawback for me. I want to be able to use 4G for streaming music etc., 3G doesn't cut it.The screen is nice and crisp, and the touch screen feels responsive. I got going with the phone very quickly, apps were installed automatically via my google account. There is space for 2 SIMs but one is a full-sized SIM slot, I haven't seen a big SIM like that for years, so it's use is questionable (you'd probably need to buy a converter for a micro SIM).The version of Android is not the latest release, it is Lollipop (version 5.0) which is a shame. A 2/3-year old Motorola phone that I had until recently was automatically updated to version 6 and it was cheaper than this Medion. So I'm a little disappointed that it is only Lollipop but it's not a major issue. It does everything you can expect of an Android phone and I have had no performance issues. It performs solidly, but there are no nice extras here, but that is to be expected for the price point. The styling is also 'solid', it's quite square/rectangular and slightly chunky and utilitarian. I quite like the styling, it feels like a strong and robust phone. My overall view is that this is a solid choice if you only need 3G performance. It is well priced and offers good quality function without the whizzy extras that the higher end phones come with.
