If you're putting it on a used bike as i did you need to rough up the grip if the knurling is worn
i installed it on a 2008 triumph rocket 3 and it took me a couple tries to figure out it was slipping due to the knurling being worn down on the throttle grip as i indicated above...it is a throttle lock and the bike slows going up hill and speeds up going down but it functions flawlessly and gives my right wrist and arm needed respites on long rides...easily adjustable on the fly with minor movement of the throttle...i highly recommend the breakaway for anyone that does long distance and doesn't have actual cruise control...

Great product and superb quality
Great product with superb quality. I put it on my 2011 Triumph Rocket III Touring motorcycle and it looks good and works great. Very easy to assemble. Just be careful to not drop any of the small screws they are very hard to find and they do not include any spares. Again it is a great product if you dont have cruise control on your motorcycle.

Form and function
This is my 2nd brake-away product. Craftsmanship is top notch and performs great once set up. Can be disengaged by pressing the "thumb" button, or disengages when applying the front brake, which is important if in an emergency stop situation. I highly recommend!

Releases when hand brake applied
Unlike most of the throttle cruise controls this one releases (turns off) when applying the brake. It also looks more "factory" that all the cheap ones

Work Great
Works great. I really like the safety that disengages when you grab the front brakes.

Main parts changed to plastic
I purchased a breakaway motorcycle cruise control a few years ago. I still have the motorcycle it’s on and compared it side-by-side, it was a solid product made from all aluminum. I just purchased a new breakaway for a second motorcycle, the design and craftsmanship has changed dramatically. I found this product to be flimsy and very difficult to precisely adjust compared to the older version. One of the main pieces is now made of plastic instead of sturdy aluminum which is why I’m not happy with the product.

Don't buy it.....JUNK
I have the CP1 for Kaw 1 inch handlebar. The rubber shims keep slipping out and the control comes loose. If it is on tight then the throttle handle sticks and does not release to go back, very dangerous.
