Brilliant Maps: An Atlas for Curious Minds Hardcover – 7 Nov. 2019

I picked up this book recently and honestly, it’s one of the most interesting things I’ve read in ages. Brilliant Maps is exactly what it says on the tin – full of maps, but not your usual geography textbook stuff. These maps make you see the world completely differently.There are 100 of them, and they cover all sorts – from countries that don’t have rivers, to places where you won’t find a McDonald’s, and even maps about North Korean embassies. Some are funny, some are quite deep, but all of them made me stop and think. It’s the kind of book you can dip into any time, and it’s perfect for flicking through with a cup of tea.A few of the maps do go across two pages, which is a tiny bit annoying, but that’s me being picky. Overall, it’s a brilliant conversation starter – great for classrooms, coffee tables, or anyone who loves random facts and seeing the world in new ways.Highly recommend it if you like quirky, clever stuff that makes you think!

A very interesting and informative perspective on geographical patterns…fascinating…highly recommended.

Bought for a pupil who loves maps who is leaving school- the book is great. Lots of interesting facts just not age appropriate for the recipient - that is my error.Suitable I would say for teens upwards.

Very different from ordinary maps and so very interesting if you are interested in statistics

It’s a lovely book but the person I bought it for wouldn’t have appreciated it. It would have helped if I was able to have a look inside this book. I returned it via Royal Mail
