Venta Airwasher Demineralization Replacement Cartridge (Fits Models - VS100, VS205 & VS207)

Nothing super-fancy to say about it. This is the real filter for the Venta-Sonic 200-series models of humidifiers. It easily screws right on to the upper side of the reservoir's gasketted "plug" (for lack of a better word) which in turn screws into the reservoir's fill opening. It prevents the formation of that very fine white dust that many ultrasonic humidifiers put out if you DON'T use a filter. The nano-silver product prevents that gross mold from growing. You still need to clean the humidifier (the base more so than the reservoir), but since you don't have the mold growth, cleaning is easy. One filter lasts an entire heating season for me. The only problem I have is that they have apparently quit making the 207 model, which has the LED display panel, which I found very helpful. But for the model 205 (and for those who still have the model 207), this is the filter, and it is great.

This product enables me to continue using my Venta-Sonic humidifer, which is valuable to me. The Aprilaire evaporation-type humidifier on my forced-hot-air home heating system sends 10 gallons of water down the drain for every gallon that it puts in the air. In my area, the Aprilaire's wasted water can cost me hundreds of dollars a year, so I use the Venta-Sonic to significantly shorten the season and reduce the demand on my Aprilaire. That said, my solution is far from perfect. Our water has very high mineral content. In a month of near-continuous usage (putting 2-3 gallons of water into the air each day), it isn't long before I start seeing white dust on my floors and furniture. I have tried adding Holmes Humidifier Water Treatment with no adverse effect on the Venta-Sonic (though Holmes recommends against it), but with no real mitigation of the dust.

We have a Venta Airwasher that was not used for a couple of years because we could not find the replacement cartridge to fit our machine. I had tried locally for several months to find one. I had googled it and with no good results. I went to Amazon.com on a whim and came up with a replacement in a matter of days. I was elated. It is now installed in the Venta Airwasher, ready for use. I love my Ventasonic Humidifier and this is the recommended replacement filter for use in it. There still remains a very fine and slight powdering of minerals distributed on the surfaces of the apartment furniture and electronics, including the T.V. This can still be annoying but no where near as much of a hassle as dealing with the mineralization when the filter is worn down or is absent. Since this is the only product recommended, I will continue to use it, even though it is not perfect.

Our water is so heavy in calcium that even a new filter won't get it all out, and after a months use the filter has long been past the need for changing. It leaves white dust on everything, clogs the central air filters in short order too, with them 30 feet away, in 10 foot ceilings. So it's something to think about when it starts affecting your air system, it can easily get to the point that bumping the humidity up just isn't worth it. I guess my point is, learn what the amount of dust is telling you and be prepared to put many filters in during a dry Winter if it is required. It's got me to the point of thinking hard about a water softener system, though I hate taking a bath in it!!

Without these cartridges to filter out the minerals/impurities in my hardwater, I would simply be throwing back "polluted" water back into the air during the winter. My apartment is so hot (base-board heating), the temperature is actually over 90 degrees, and very dry. I can only get these cartridges on line as the store where I originally purchased my humidifier no longer carries them. Amazon's supplier was so quick, I wasn't expecting it. It took no more than one or two days.

this product is awful! I made a mistake to buy 3 of them for my 3 humidifiers and I just wasted my money. As soon as you open the boxes there's a really bad smell. Then I took out the filters and they are full of mold. DISGUSTING! Can't believe I can't return this because this is just filthy. Very disappointed I've bought their products in the past but NEVER AGAIN.

I was glad to find the product available. When I brought out my humidifier for the winter season, it wasn't working - kept cutting off. I discovered that the existing filter needed to be replaced in order for the machine to work. As soon as I installed the new one - everything was in working order.
