Kato makes a fantastic UNI track product and this power pack is part of the system.This performs very well but remember that you need to buy the AC adapter separately unless this comes as a part of a kit

Excellent power pack for running Kato or Hobbytrain locomotives and trains. Allows interior lights to turn on without forward motion at least until throttle power is increased slowly until desired train speed is reached. Notes: 1) requires additional purchase of 110V power pack as well as a Kato cable to connect device to Kato track.

This seems like a quality controller for this price point. Works, and is made in Japan, it's not Chinese.My experience doesn't match with the manufacturer's description and the other reviews that say it doesn't include a transformer nor a cable for connection to the track. As can be seen from the photo, mine came with both. Perhaps they've changed this following customer input, and didn't change the description?However, be aware the included transformer is a smaller one, with a 12V / 1.5 A output, so you still may choose to buy the larger transformer (sold separately) that outputs 16V / 2.0 A for more power, if that's appropriate for your layout.

I have never been more disappointed in the description of a product on Amazon. Who sells something called a "power pack" when it is clearly a power controller. There was no power pack in the box. In fact, the box was labeled "Power Supply Transformer sold separately".A picture of the product box would certainly help clarify what the product is. Currently the description says, "This product is only the power pack body." It should say,This power pack does not include the $25 Kato Power Supply.

Good but could also use a finer scale. Works consistandt over 60 feet of Kato N-Scale track thru switches and up and downs.

I liked the fact that this unit puts out good clean power, providing enough for steady illumination from the trains’ onboard lighting, even when there isn’t enough power to move the train. By contrast, with my older ‘S’ class controller, the lights can flicker even when the train is moving slowly.This seems to be true for trains by Kato, Tomix, and Greenmax, with LED lights.The nearest thing I have to a criticism is that the forward/off/reverse switch is heavier to operate than my ‘S’ controller. But there’s no question that I prefer this one.Would buy again. (Did buy again.)

This 22-018 power pack is made in Japan. Its is 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of the previous model 22-012, that is, if you can find one. In term of what is included with the pack, it come with a small external transformer to connect it to a 120 AC volt outlet and a short piece of wire that may be used for an electrical connection.

This item was advertised coming with wall adapter power source but it didn't i finally had to order it seperately even when i talked with a customer service rep she even comfirmed that the power came with wall adapter and put in a reorder and i sent other back reorder was the same no power adapter for powerpack. So i had to order it seperately the 18-22 stayed no power adapter but the 18-22-1 said it was included but it wasn't even though i paid more
