Requires finishing!
This is about what I expected after reading the reviews. It is a slightly crude piece that looks to have it's origins in a third world foundry. A fair amount of scale and hammer marks. It took me a couple of hours with a wire brush, files and grinder to finish it. Once I did the work and heated the entire ladle to a cherry red heat and let it cool it was a very usable tool. Since I am going to melt machinable wax and low melting point metals(Woods and rose metal) I sprayed it with automotive exhaust/ BBQ paint. Now it looks and works well. I felt I got what I paid for. If you are expecting a well finished tool, this is not for you.

It's Ok.
Package was secure with newspaper stuffing but when I removed the ladle it wasn't in plastic or anything. It was covered with black dust and had rough edges. The black machine dust was thick and nasty. Looks like it was hastily made and then thrown in a box. They really could done better with the processing. This looks like something that has set on my welding bench and collected debris for a year. I'll make a short wooden handle to cover the last 4" or so and it should fit the bill but for the money and the shipping price I expected a little more. All in all it will do what it advertises and it was delivered quickly but there appeared to be little pride in the manufacturing, packaging, and presentation. It really looks like something grandpa stamped out of a sheet of scrap thrown in a box.

Like old school, does what it's supposed to and looks probably to do it for a long time...
Does exactly as it's supposed to...

Worked great, but the handle became hot
Worked great, but the handle became hot. So I had to wear an oven mitt. Also the laddle was to small to hold the entire brick of pewter so I had to problem solve to allow the pewter to melt with out spilling or burning my hands.

Exactly What It Needs To Be
Ordered this to be able to scoop smaller amounts of pewter from the kiln/crucible, to pour castings. Exactly as described, fast shipping. Thanks!

Heavy and sturdy
I'm using it for pewter. Before I started, I had to smooth out the edges, which were a little rough, but it is a tough, simple tool.
