Natural Instincts Demi-Permanent Hair Dye, 3 Brown Black Hair Color, Pack of 3

My skepticism has turned into amazement with the Clairol Natural Instincts Demi-Permanent Hair Dye in shade #2 Black. I was initially unsure about the coverage because the mixture never appeared black during prep, but once applied, it immediately darkened and delivered rich, true black color. The coverage was impressive—it completely covered all my grays. I’ve washed my hair three times since applying it, and the color has held up beautifully without fading. The formula is gentle and left my hair feeling soft and healthy. This is a great option for anyone looking for long-lasting, natural-looking color without harsh chemicals.

I’m not one for writing reviews but always rely on the reviews of others when I’m doing research on a product or service 😂 This time I just had to review this product! Background on me, I am an African American female in her 40’s and have natural hair that’s about half way down my back. I use heat no more than once a year and only use a wide tooth comb on bith mine and my daughter’s hair. So, I am very particular about my hair 😊 I was so afraid to color my hair on my own, but did research and decided to try this in black. I had previously had my hair colored about 5 months ago with permanent color and the individual was so super rough with my hair that I didn’t want to even let her touch up my color. Let me tell you, this product covered EVERY SINGLE GREY HAIR! And, I heard the temple area is the hardest to color. My hair was so soft and I have lots of hair and only used one box, but I would still order two just in case. I only touched up my edges in the front temple area and along where I wear my part. I’m so serious and I’m not paid at all for this review. Please give this a try. I did follow the directions verbatim except I shampooed my hair the same day. I rinsed the color out with slightly cool water in the shower and once the water ran clear, I commenced to shampoo with Shea Moisture for kids carrot and mango shampoo, which I’ve used for several years now on mine and my daughter’s hair and we both love it. I used the conditioner that came with the color also to deep condition my hair and used my normal TGIN Green Tea leave in as my styler along with Shea Moisture curl foam and flaxseed Eco styler gel. I also had no allergic reactions and I have very sensitive skin. I did not do a allergy test prior to using the color, though I would recommend doing that. Basically, this color is amazing, it didn’t blend the greys, they are completely gone.

I love the natural instinct hair colors. It really works in 20 minutes even on dark hair, there is no smell at all cause is very natural, so it does not harm people like me that suffer from sinus and other allergies. Until now, Natural Instinct is the only hair color that is safe to use for me. Plus the conditioner, wow, I just love it. Smells soft and nice and leaves your hair soft, smooth and very shiny. Love all of it.

I have grays on top and all around my head, most are hidden but there are a lot of white, and gray and I have medium length hair. Make sure you have at least 2.5 hours of time to read and complete this hair coloring on your own. I decided to use a brush to apply the product to my hair after squeezing it on my hair line per the paper instructions. Do the front of both sides first after you section your hair into 4 quadrants and tie it up or clip each section. Start at the root and do your best to rub it in so it saturates all strands. Start the timer after you have done the 2 front ( left and right) sections. Be prepared to leave the product on for at least 30 minutes. It doesn’t drip as much as some reviews suggested, but it does stain skin, clothes, and surfaces. I covered my neck down with a big plastic bag and rub Vaseline petroleum jelly around and behind my ears, on back of my neck, on forehead, top of nose across and above my eyebrows and on both sides of my face near my ears. Wear 2 pairs of gloves so it’s easier to switch once you have to rinse the product off with just warm water in the shower. A little dollop of the conditioner goes a long way even though my hair is a few inches past my shoulders. I find that rinsing is a bit time-consuming because I don’t think I was able to rinse all the product off. Found this out after I thought the water looked clear, but after I rinsed the conditioner off after applying it and leaving it on hair for 2 minutes, there was still some gray tint in the water as I was rinsing the conditioner off. I’d do the first rinse without using gloves so I can scrub the color off with my nails more. By the way, make sure your hair is dirty when you color it so the natural hair oil will protect your scalp from the harshness of the hair dye chemicals!! Today is the 10th day and I’ve used the conditioner only a total of 1 time. My hair is still blue black from the coloring (my natural hair is black with white and gray), but it doesn’t look blue in person. I did not see any grays or white hair, and my hair looks smooth & healthy naturally. No bald spots at all! P.S.: photos are my hair a few hours after I colored it. You can see some blue around the hair line, but I used facial wipes to easily remove it.

I have been using Clairol Natural Instincts Demi-Permanent Hair Dye for at least two years. The directions are simple and easy to follow. Clairol Natural Instincts Demi-Permanent Hair Dye leaves my hair looking and feeling great. It doesn’t leave my hair dry and brittle. I do my own hair because going to a salon to have my hair done is costly. When I saw the price of a package of three on Amazon, I couldn’t resist ordering it

I have 4C Coily Hair. I am very impressed with this hair product. I used to use Clairol gray solution hair rinse. It made my hair strands feel rough. It only lasts for two weeks. I knew I would need a stronger color but I didn’t want to use a permanent hair dye. I did research and found there are at home Demi permanent colors. The salon charge $80. So, I decided to try this product in Black. I am very happy with this product. It colored my greys and made my hair feel soft. I have coily hair so it’s not going to feel silky unless I get a silk press or flat iron in my hair. My hair stay black for seven weeks. I only had 2 inches of gray hair new growth. I’m definitely going to continue using this product.

Does everything it says and more Covers grey and holds its colour longer than any other brand

This is my FAVOURITE blue black hair dye. Stop searching ladies & get this one!! After trail and error of trying to find a hair dye that doesn’t fade and actually dyes my roots & gives the blackest black look, this is the one!! I’ve bought this three times now and will continue to keep using this product. If i didn’t need to dye my roots every 3 weeks, I would never need to touch up my black hair because of how well this product stains and dyes your hair. It also smells fantastic and makes my hair SO soft!

I really do like this product, especially because it is not super permanent. The colour itself is my "go-to" colour and I really like that the company kept it. It does not take long, does not seem to burn or irritate when it is in use and the conditioner is quite lovely.

Tried this Clairol Natural Instincts hair color and was pleasantly surprised. The formula didn’t irritate my scalp at all, which is a big deal for me since I’ve had reactions with other brands. There’s no strong or weird smell during application and it’s comforting to know there are no harsh chemicals. The color itself is rich and lasted way longer than I expected for a demi-permanent dye.

I think this will be a good product. First time use, I didn't find it completely covered my grey, roots were a little too red, but I had let my roots get a little too long, so will try it again. I have dark hair so I may do the roots in a darker colour and then try the burgundy/black again....I love the colour, and the fact it is more natural.
