The maximum distance you can position your camera is 90 meters from the base station/SmartHub. Every wall, ceiling or any other major obstacle will reduce the aforementioned range.

Yes, Arlo Ultra cameras have to be installed to the SmartHub to work correctly through its WiFi network. The SmartHub has to be connected to the router via Ethernet cable. You can check the compatibility between the SmartHubs and Base stations in our article: "What is the difference between each Arlo SmartHub and base station?".
