The Wonder Weeks: A Stress-Free Guide to Your Baby's Behavior

A Sanity Saver!!
Trying to figure out if you're doing "the right thing" for your baby is hard. Super hard. Especially when they cannot yet speak or clearly communicate just what they need. And when they go through "leaps," as outlined in this book, it's particularly stressful, because you're constantly wondering if their sudden crankiness and generally unruly disposition is because you're doing something "wrong." I found this book to be such a sanity saver for these periods of growth. Instead of driving myself mad wondering what was wrong, I was [mostly] able to shift my mindset to an understanding that what was happening was completely normal and healthy, and I gained a huge appreciation for the process of development that I don't think I would have otherwise been able to view in the same way. It made it so much easier to remember to take a deep breath and just ride it out when we were in hour two of trying to get the little one to sleep, or wearing a track in the living room carpet a 3am...! I also found a great amount of solace in the author's repeated reminders that all people are different, so don't compare your baby to other babies to decide who is "ahead" or "normal," but instead watch your child closely to see what THEY are interested in exploring, and support them on their journey. It was also very reassuring to me that they continually reminded the reader to remember that the skills/developmental milestones that are outlined for each leap are the earliest possible time which the lists of milestones may appear. In other words, no worries if your child doesn't display the behaviors until a later time. We also downloaded the companion app, which I only really found helpful because then I could look at the built-in calendar to see when we were approaching the start of a new leap. Some of the videos and things were good, too, but if you're going to get only one, get the book for sure! Have recommended this book to every other parent I know.

Unquantifiably helpful for a first time (or any!) mom
The information in this book is so helpful and eye-opening! It really helped me understand what my baby was going through physically and psychologically, which helped me play with and care for the baby much better and more confidently. The leap predictions are on point, the suggested activities are amazing, and the checklists are fun and engaging. I also love that there is no pushy advice in this book. I feel that any parenting style can be complemented with the Wonder Weeks as a guide.

Best baby book!
This book was invaluable to my daughter as a new mom. I would have loved to have it when my kids were little. It is so helpful that I keep buying it as gifts for first time mothers. You can track on a calendar when your child is going to make a milestone and be better prepared for how the baby handles it. The early months are when so much happens so fast. I recommend this book to everyone I know. Get it!

Very Helpful
Thanks to a friend who told me about this book, I purchased it before we had our first baby, and it has been nothing but helpful. The concept of the wonder weeks is pretty accurate and it helped me to anticipate the major changes and leaps of growth my baby would be experiencing. It helped me to realize that when my baby is fussy or crying more than usual, it's because she is going through major leaps of growth and this has helped me to have a more understanding approach to parenting. The suggested games to play with baby are helpful. The best part is the checklist at the end of each chapter that helps you to keep track of important milestones based on age.

Very interesting and Helpful!
This book was very good. I really enjoyed reading it and learning about all the different leaps. I even put post it notes on the different leaps and labeled them to know right where to turn when my hopefully future child reaches them. It had such good material and I like that is wasn't so focused on your child has to do everything right at an exact time, mentioning that babies just like adults have preferences of what they want to learn first. I also liked how each chapter had different pages to fill in about your baby and the things they would be learning. The only 2 reasons I didn't give it 5 stars is because the "fussy phase" pages could get very repetitive and boring after awhile. On the 9th or 10th leap they finally skipped over it, it probably should have been done in leap three. Also the book didn't give very much practical advice on how to cope with those fussy phases, but I don't think it was meant to. I think they meant more to just tell you why the fussy phases are happening to help you know we will get through it, it will end, but not focusing much on how to actually help the fussy child. It did go into a lot of ideas on how to help the parents during fussy phases, giving yourself little special things or times for you, so you don't go crazy lol. I guess there isn't much more you can do than that, lol, but anyway it was a great book, highly recommend!

Recommended for any new parent
I had my first kid this fall and bought this book after a friend recommended it. It is extremely helpful when your kid is going through the different stages or “leaps” in their development. The timelines between each “leap” is accurate to the week and has not only provided guidance but also reassurance to do the right things for your child. If you are expecting buy this book!
