Have fun with old glass; no optical loss cheap portrait lens with APS sensor
Recently bought Nikon Z50 APS sized sensor; have some old M42 (Pentax Thread) some over 50 years oldThis very well built adapter lets us play at being photographers again!Very well built solid metal well machined. Do not loose or discard tiny Allen wrench in package; you may need to assure lens settings show up on top, could have better instructions. No optics, as opposed to Nikon F to M42 adapters so no distortions.Well dimensioned; focuses at infinity as it shouldWorks well with most M42 lenses I have, must be fully manual; fixed not Auto ISO; you only set shutter speed in cameraAs in old time cameras you manually focus wide open then stop down to adjust exposure. On preset lenses and those with manual/auto switch just use switch to step downExposure is the most fun, no match the needle, just follow histogram changing speed as neededBest results an old Pentax SuperTakumar 50 mm becomes a portrait lens.Only problem a Sun 24-40 Zoom that has f/ stop ring against back; it binds with adapter and difficult to useCheap fun; M42 lenses are plentiful and some are excellent

These work great with my m42 lenses.
This clicks into my Nikon Z6 perfectly, and the M42 screw is buttery smooth on my vintage lenses. The mount feels solid, and I'm confident my lens is secure. It has holes where you can tighten the M42 ring and it even comes with a little allen wrench.

Works great
I am using this adapter as part of a setup for attaching a microscope objective to a Nikon Z camera, and for that it has worked great! I haven’t tried rotating it with the tiny hex key they give you, but for my purposes this thing does everything I expected!

Great value for the money.
Didn't want to spend a bunch for an adaptor to make a cheap vintage lens useable on my digital camera so I did some shopping and this more than meets the mark of adequacy! No fancy packaging and it pretty much takes any M42 lens (vintage Pentax), closes down the aperture and makes it fully useable on a Nikon Z. You won't get autofocus, auto aperture or any contact with the camera so you'll have to create a custom-setting in the menus and tell the camera to fire when there's no lens attached so don't expect magic here!It comes with a hex wrench, too, so you can adjust the rotation of the lens so you make make sure the index marks are at the top, or anywhere else you want them. There are more expense adapters out there and probably none less expensive. Why pay a lot for a peice of aluminum that's little more than a machined tube?

solid, secure, and inexpensive
Fits snugly and securely, no light leaks as others have reported. It’s definitely solid, but heavy. Pro tip: loosen the three set screws to and rotate the lens to the correct orientation, then tighten them. Be careful, as the screws are tiny and easily stripped if over tightened. Mine included the hex wrench.

Does what it's spoda
Fits my M42 Takumar 135mm f3.5 lens on my Nikon ZF. I get sharp images and can focus to infinity. Comes with an allen wrench to tighten mount screws if they get loose. Sometimes these screws come loose and people complain that it's a terrible product when all you have to do is tighten the screws. Once tightened I have never seen a loose screw issue on these types of adapters again. If for some crazy reason the screws don't want to to stay tight you can always buy some loctight (something everyone should have on hand) to put on the screw threads that will ensure they never come loose again. But again once tightened I have never seen the issue again. Mine came tight so I have no issues there.
