I purchased this lantern because we bought a new travel trailer, lightweight, and are setting up the trailer for off-grid camping. We are long time past boy scout leaders, and have lots of hours of rustic camping under our belts. The switch to a travel trailer is getting us out of "camping retirement" but we do not like camping in the midst of the humming of RV generators, outdoor entertainment systems, etc. The travel trailer was a compromise between me and my husband, who stated "I'm never camping again!" after too many wet, muddy, and miserable boy scout outings. Alas, we located a new Vintage trailer (love it!) and are heading out again this summer. The ability to go off grid was an important feature for our camping gear. I read many reviews for lanterns, and was impressed with the reviews of this nice lantern. I am not disappointed! The light is very bright, which is necessary for a dark camping area. It is very easy to recharge using solar power. We have yet to use it to test the length of use, but I am certain the reviews are accurate, so we should be able to get our nightly use from it and recharge the next day. It is very sturdy and compact. I'd highly recommend. Do not be intimidated by the price, I am a firm believer in the saying "You get what you pay for". If we get great lighting under a dark, starry night, in a relatively remote area of a state or national forest campground, I am super pleased!

The lantern was much more than I expected. I haven't needed to use it yet but from what I've seen so far I am very pleased with it. It literally turned my completely dark room into a space fully lit past the doorway and into a second room. I will buy a second one for the rest of the house. My only 'slight' issue is that it does so well it isn't possible to dim the light at rest time. This isn't a criticism as much as an observation because the lantern is an excellent product when full light is needed. I especially like that, when sitting near a sunny window, the indicator lights shows it automatically start to charge from solar light from the sun. It is comforting to know it is always ready when needed without having to plug it in to something for charging. A true power saver. Highly recommended.

Form factor looks good and very compact. The brightness is as advertised. I have not used the solar charging feature yet so it’s still too early to comment.

I first bought their Blazing Sun lantern that has 1,500 lumens of light.. It’s super bright and uses D cell batteries, and I think it’s terrific. However, I lose power several times a year, and wanted a second lantern that could be recharged via the sun in case I were to run out of batteries. This solar lantern is terrific. Plenty bright to light up large rooms (12x24 ft room) and can be recharged via the built in solar panel or via a usb cable connected to an other power source. I’m extremely happy with both lanterns!

This lantern includes a micro USB cord, but no way to get charging power to it. Also, that cord is flimsy and does not seat well in a standard USB connector.For many of us this may not present a problem, as we'll already have the required charger for our Android phone or other device. However, I ordered two of these lanterns for my parents for emergency use during power outages, which typically occur several times a year at their home. They have an iPhone, which of course uses a different connector. I therefore had to order charging blocks separately, at additional cost.Also, these units require a 1.0 amp power source (not 2.1 amp), which means charging will be slow, while the solar charging feature will be even slower. I am a big fan of solar power, but in this case it only helps as a last resort as it helps only on a nice sunny day (which is not when you are likely to lose power), rather than at night when you actually need the light.While the unit feels reasonably solid, I am going to reserve final judgement on that until it's been lived with for a while, as the other things noted give me reason for doubt.Update: The lanterns are as bright as advertised. Charging each has taken 6-7 hours, so there is nothing quick about it, which is a definite liability. Still, I'm giving it the big benefit of the doubt and upping my overall rating to 3 stars.

This product came well packaged with a USB cable (for non-solar charging) and super simple instructions included in the box. The lantern is a good size and seems well assembled. It puts off a really great, bright light that will be perfect for camping, navigating around the yard at night and if (god forbid) we lose power. The cable provided will fit easily into any USB charging port, so even on cloudy days, I can charge my lantern up!

I ordered this solar rechargeable lantern but received their (less expensive) battery powered lantern instead. Returned the item no problem and received a replacement in very short order. Opened the box only to find the battery powered lantern again. The sticker on the bottom of the box clearly says the item is the rechargeable lantern, but the box clearly says it's battery powered. Product color and lumen output are very different. I'm sure this is just a quality control issue with someone putting the wrong stickers on the wrong boxes and then someone not taking the time to verify the item they're packing with the actual order. Provided I ever get what I'm actually trying to order, I'll update the review.

This product put out a lot of light. It seems to be sturdy. I bought several types of camping lanterns & this one seems to be the best. I have not tried to charge a phone with this. We've had a lot of bad weather in the NW this winter, but so far, no power outages or opportunity to use my lantern. This would be great for camping. Use it at night & charge it during the day. Looking forward to using it!

This is my second purchase of the brightest & most useful lantern I have ever found. Adjustable light levels, choice of recharge options, lightweight & excellent for indoors & outdoors use make these lamps definitely a 5 star rating,
