beyerdynamicM201 TG Classic Dynamic Hypercardioid Microphone for all Instrumental Applications

This is a fantastic mic for trumpet. The Sennheiser that I've used for years finally failed, and I had been researching trumpet mics for some time.What I like about it: Nearly flat frequency response at different volumes--perfect for muted and unmuted music. The included windscreen helps when getting up close. Build in humbucking circuitry means less feedback. I dial it in about 2 feet from the bell unmuted, and can get right up to it with a mute without changing anything (all while feedback free). It is a bit pricier than the SM57, and less than the Sennheiser, but much better sound and very high quality. Give it a try--I think you'll be impressed!

I bought the M201 TG exclusively for a studio snare drum mic. I have used Sure’s SM57, Audix i5, and I can honesty say, hands down that the Beyerdynamic 201 TG is a superior microphone and will be my go to mic for recording snare drum in the studio. I am now using the i5 or the SM57 for a bottom snare mic. Thank you for the great price as well!

The M201 is an all around workhorse, and is one of the best studio snare head mics out there, but tough enough for the stage as well. The hypercardioid pattern effectively rejects bleed from the hi-hat and mounted toms. The M201 is a versatile live mic, excellent for percussion, brass, guitar cabinets, and more. Affordable, indestructible, beautifully made, with a detailed, natural, sound. Every serious mic locker should have a least a pair of these German gems.

The mic is very well built and very strong. I recorded my snare drum by placing the mic on the top pointed to the center. It really got the sound and power of the snare. I appreciate the result very much.

This is my go-to microphone for snare top! An SM57 does well too, but this pulls out so much body and depth from the snare. I get the sound I’m looking for at the source. It’s very rugged and versatile much like the SM57 but with more depth and punch.

Phenomenal for vocals, male and female. Super good for snare too. I imagine that it also sounds great mic’ing a guitar amp

I'm using it on saxes. It is a smoother mic( for this) than an SM58. Not as strident. I like the isolation it gives me from each sax in the section.

I bought thia mic for my snare drum in my home studio, works amazing, more low end than my 57,,,,maybe better used on toms, either way a must for a drummers mic locker...

I use it for acoustic guitar in a home studio that has less than optimal sound proofing. Works like a charm and sounds amazing! As as songwriter, this mic and the SM7B are all I need!
