Advanced, but beats going to jail
A little more technical than your casual tree house builder might need. But then again, who wants to go through the pain of quietly slipping out of the country after a huge disaster involving 11 kids in a rotten old oak tree that you really should have taken down years ago and was on the honey-do list every week but you felt like it was a higher priority to put in a little time on the Trans-Am rebuild out in the back garage — hypothetically?

I decided on this book as it was priced well and had received good reviews. I found the chapters in the book ...
First of all let me say that I am not a construction pro. I do some side projects from time to time in my own home. I would say that I have moderate skills in construction. This past year I decided to build a fishing cabin on my mountain hideaway..a kind of man-cave. However I did not have a big budget and I had no access to helpers. Therefore I needed a quick reference guide on basic carpentry skills needed to build a basic structure. After doing some research on Amazon, I decided on this book as it was priced well and had received good reviews.I found the chapters in the book to be very relevant to my project as I embarked on building my first ever structure from the ground up, which was a 12 x 16 gable-roof fishing cabin. I especially found this book to be of great use when it came to building the roof. The roof I settled on was a 12:8 pitched gable roof and I was able to do all the cuts and installation by myself, with a little reference to this book.

Well illustrated and informative
I am an electrical engineer who has branched off to occasionally design small, efficient rural cottages for independent local carpenter builders. I needed a reference that highlighted basic wood frame construction methods & techniques so that I might ensure that my designs were consistent with good wood frame construction practices. I am pleased with the depth and clarity of the text as well as a convenient appendix with span tables for joists and rafters for common applications. I purchased the Kindle version for my IPAD and Android phone, both have great resolution of pictures when expanded. I recommend this text.

A lot of truss materal
It's a pretty good book, there is a large section about building roof trusses, not many diy'ers willing to tackle that and only the most advanced carpenters can do that. Around here most trusses are manufactured due to snow load. I would like more on framing slab houses, they are a bit different with bracing and wall setting. But I do like the pictures

Good one stop shop to learn framing techniques
This is an excellent book with clear text, minimizing jargon and explaining jargon as needed. The illustrations are very clear and explanatory. I found the book very helpful to me as a consumer of professional building services, evaluating if builder was providing the features and quality I wanted in my project. I have also found this book helpful in learning how do do some light home improvement projects following accepted techniques and standards.I would like to see DeWalt add a book on finish carpentry to complement this text. There are a lot of tips and techniques for hanging doors and windows and applying trim that would be great to have in one place similar to what this book does for framing.Edited February 2019 to improve grammar and clarity.

Basic
In my opinion, it's not likely that a "Seasoned Professional" will find this book useful. This is just basic information more suited to beginners. It has clear diagrams and it's well organized for those who don't have other carpentry reference books and only need the basics on simple structures.

Other books are much Better Look elsewhere.
I was just trying to build a door frame for my master bathroom remodel. Any pictures or explanation of how to frame a door... nope. Wow I just wanted to know how large to make the rough opening for a 32 inch door I got from lowes. Nope this book does not let you know small simple details. What a failure of a book. Many other books are much better. This is just crap that DeWalt put their name on. I could have written a better book.

Carpentry and Framing
A good book to learn from but it is really aimed at the American trade as all in inches and American codes, apart from that it is well written and easy to follow and understand how Carpentry and framing is done the right way.
