I purchased both the "small" and the "jumbo". The dimensions that I found on Amazon were unsatisfactory, so I will post a better set of dimensions here. "small" (B0032VDG14,BAM-10006): thickness = 7/8" folded length = 8" unfolded length = 12" width = 3.5" circular depression = 2&7/8" diameter "jumbo" (B0032VFHX4,BAM-10007): thickness = 7/8" folded length = 10" unfolded length = 15" width = 4.5" circular depression = 3" diameter Note that the circular depression is not proportional to the overall size of the press, and is nearly identical for both. Because of this, I don't really see the purpose of the "jumbo" version, all it does is take up more space in the kitchen. Regarding the negative reviews, I agree that the press is rather flimsy, and I tightened some of the screws myself. BUT, I don't think a tostonera needs to be very strong -- pressing once-fried plantains is very easy. So, I would say it is constructed according to its purpose. The press would probably break very quickly if you used it to press raw, unripe plantains, but that's not the intended use.

The price is right for this kitchen tool. I’ve bought a few of these for myself and for my family. They seem to work as well as any other inexpensive tostonera. They won’t last forever but at this price point I don’t expect it to. Out of the 3 purchased only one had a screw that began to loosen up but it was an easy fix.

This tostonera does exactly what it's supposed to do and works really well for making tostones and patacones. When it's assembled and intact, it presses plantains evenly and efficiently, making the cooking process much easier than other methods I've tried. Everything arrived as ordered and in excellent condition. All pieces were included, packaging was secure, and delivery was prompt with no issues. The bamboo material is a nice natural touch and easy to clean. The jumbo size is perfect for larger plantain slices, which is convenient when cooking for multiple people. My only concern is the durability. While it worked well initially, I'm not sure how long it will hold up with regular use. The bamboo construction seems like it might not withstand heavy or frequent pressing over time, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. For the price, it's still a good purchase and gets the job done. Just be aware that it may not be the most long-lasting kitchen tool. If you're looking for something functional and affordable for making tostones, this will work well - just handle it with reasonable care. Would recommend for casual use, but if you're making tostones very frequently, you might want to consider a more heavy-duty option.

If you are a person that make tostones regularly this item is not good for you. It’s very cheap The screws get loose. Will not purchase again.

Bolts Broke on the first try. This item is not good.

No me gusto por el hueco que tiene en el medio pero si elnpalatano es grande queda bien

Upon unpacking, noticed screws were not secured or screwed into the hinges. One screw was completely out. Fastened and secured all 4 screws. On tostones number 3, Bam! Hinge completed separated from the other part of the smasher.
