Odorless wood preserver?
I purchased this because I wanted to use it to paint the underside of a small wood porch to protect from rot. I bought this because I was told it would be odorless and less toxic than the copper stuff sold at the paint store. It may be that I was supposed to get polyethylene glycol. Polyethylene glycol is not toxic to animals but does anyone know if it is toxic to fungus? Animals would not have access to the underside of this porch but never the less, I would rather use the non-toxic polyethylene glycol vs. this toxic stuff if indeed it is effective against fungus. Does anyone know if boric acid solution is better?

Please read... because rating DOESN'T reflect product
Rating has nothing to do with the product itself. I bought this to treat a wooden plank, that is left out and exposed to the elements. Product was 'verbally' recommended to try. (He stated that he used radiator coolant to treat his wood products that were left out in the rain and sun. He believed it was the Ethylene Glycol solution that was in the coolant.) Thus, I thought that purchasing the 'pure' chemical solution would be MUCH better. I used the product and saturated the wood. "I really can't tell if it had a positive result. I only rated this as low because there was no beading or repellant properties." I'm sure that this product would be excellent if utilized for its intended purposes. (I really don't know what for??? but can say that it doesn't repel water on wood.)

I have not bought it yet I have rated it a 5 to offset the negative and unfounded rating that preceded this one.
To be fair Ethylene Glycol is not designed to make water bead or run off. It has no sealant properties. It kills fungus and micro organisms that create rot and therefore eat your word. In this manner EG is a preservative. It is unfair to rate a product a 1 and affect this sellers reputation and product because of a lack of understanding of what the product is supposed to do...
