New Favorite Knife
It has great craftsmanship. Other reviewers complain that the knife doesn't open all the way with one flip from the assist on the back. This is by design. its not supposed to be a spring assisted knife, but a simple folding one. The blade action is solid and doesn't shake or move when locked. I got the Jr. which is supposed to be a small knife - which it is. I don't like a lot of stuff in my pockets for EDC so this thing is great. awesome quality and sharp. Clip is very strong and the handle feels like metal. If you like this sleek manual fold design its perfect for you.Edit 1/09/249 Months later and it's still my EDC. Great knife. it loosened up while opening but in a good way. I can kind of flick it open now. The blade is still tight however and does not wiggle side to side at all which is what I love about Gerber knives. Aluminum handle is kind of a let down. I opened a few botte caps with this and it shreds the alum kinda bad. Blade has only dulled slightly but I use it for everything.Still my favorite. I have 3 now.

Nice little knife for the price
I have had the Gerber EVO Jr. for a few years now and it is a great little knife for the money.I carry it all the time when working but inside my pocket not using the clip and it is great for that. It gets light duty opening packages/boxes, envelopes, cutting strapping, cutting twine, etc. I don't use it as a pry bar nor any of my knives as a pry par.It came arm hair shaving sharp and is easy to keep thay way touching up on my Arkanasa medium stone or with my Lansky Sharp Stick. Yeah I know the steel is not the greatest but it is plenty good enough for what it is and easy to sharpen.I love the size, weight, and the flipper that makes it easy to open. If it becomes stiff a drop of oil makes it work fine again. Mine looks kind of beat up but still works great. When not working I am probably carrying my Benchmade Mini Griptilain or Osborne 940 using the pocket clip.I like the Gerber EVO Jr enough that if I lost it I would buy another. I give it five stars with the price considered.

Good, practical work knife
The Evo Jr. is a good practical knife for common work tasks like cutting cardboard, blister packaging, rope, twine, etc. It's not huge, but I like that it fits comfortably in my pocket without taking up too much space, and the blade is plenty long for most of my needs. It's not meant for combat or for skinning a deer; if that's what you're looking for, you'll want something bigger. Both the pocket clip and the hinge mechanism were really tight when I first received the knife, but they're opening up a bit after some use. I like the location of the clip -- if you grab the hinge portion of the knife with your thumb and forefinger when it's clipped to your pocket, just pull the knife straight up. Let the knife swing into your palm, and you'll be in perfect position to flick the blade open. Very handy. It wasn't crazy sharp when i received it, but it took a nice edge very readily, and seems to be holding it well. That's fine with me, others may want a sharper knife out of the box.I don't carry this knife everyday (that's an honor reserved for my Swiss Army Rambler, which is half the size and has a screwdriver), but I do carry it when I'm camping, doing crafty things, or otherwise doing work that requires a little more cutting ability. The one-handed opening and the serrated blade are really handy, and this is a very well made knife. At this price, how can you go wrong?

Handy small knife
The EVO Jr. is just that: a junior size version of the EVO. The EVO Jr. is very small and discrete. I find it a little small for a camping/outdoor knife, but in a more urban setting it certainly is adequate. The quality and construction seems quite good so far. I have been using it daily for a couple months now. All the screws are tight and staying put, and there is no blade wobble whatsoever. The locking mechanism is very solid as well--the blade will not open or close on you unexpectedly. Because the knife is so small, the opening motion is slightly different than larger liner-locks. Using the flipper and thumb stud together it opens quite easily though.Bottom line: I wanted a small, inexpensive, and rugged knife with a pocket clip and one-hand opening, without any gimmicky spring-assists or safety latches to worry about breaking. And that is exactly what I got with the EVO Jr.

This is the PERFECT pocket knife!!!
This little Gerber Evo Jr. knife is small enough to tuck in your pocket and forget it. It is small enough to hide but it is right there when you need it. The blade is combination of traditional clean edge and serrated edge. The clean edge sharpens well and holds a good edge under normal use for routine tasks such as opening boxes, sharpening pencils or other everyday needs. The clip is a fold over style that allows the knife to sit below the top of your pocket leaving only the clip visible to others. Nothing for knife-o-phobes to get excited about!! The blade is more than ample enough to handle all of your EDC tasks and the serrating really handles string, rope and other cordage but small enough to not scare the crap out of non-knife folks. The openings in the handle cut down greatly on the weight of the knife and allows for quick drying should the knife get wet. I have been carrying this little knife since it came out. I recently lost mine when I put something in my pocket that pushed it out when I sat down, at least that's my best guess. I tried several other designs by numerous makers and none felt as comfortable as the Evo Jr. So.... I ordered another one and am very happy to have my friend back again. Also, I think I found that Gerber has discontinued this knife. Having heard this news I immediately ordered another Evo Jr. to put in my just in case drawer. I highly recommend this knife. P.S., I also carry a larger Kershaw assisted knife for larger and stronger tasks.
