Great dust extractor don’t confuse it for a Shop Vac
This has been a great purchase. I’m a small independent cabinet maker and I use this for sanding and often for stone anchors and it works perfectly. Great to bring on site in someone’s home, small and very portable for sometimes you just don’t need the festool. THIS IS NOT a SHOP VAC, it’s a dust extractor, there is a difference. I use a 6 amp hour battery on it and it lasts plenty long for what I use it for. I only wish the hose was detachable, it is fixed and so you can’t add a longer hose other then that I have zero complaints.

don't buy it
the button to clean the filter did not work. every min or two you have to open and clean it. you spend almost as much time cleaning the filter as you do sanding joint compond. the portabilitie was very nice but a little under powerd. I'd like to see a 60v versoin with the filter cleaning problem resolved

Works pefect with dewalt orbital sander
Had to order quick connector adapter. The adapter was too big for vac hose. So i used an old shop vac attachment cut extra part off. Fit snugg in adatoer then hose fits snug in cut peice.

Not AirLock compatible but otherwise performs as promised
The media could not be loaded. First things first, this thing works like they say it does. Throw a battery on it, press the button, and it proceeds to suckin. The suction seemed a little light so I 3D printed an adapter to fit the hose to an air speed meter and the results calculate out to 23 CFM vs the 19 CFM listed in the manual. So, it sucks more than they say it does, but it still feels a little light on the suction. No points subtracted for doing what it promised.Sound levels measured at 1m read at 79dB(A) vs 82.5 in the manual. This certainly isn't quiet but it's quieter than the tools I'm running with it so I'm wearing hearing protection anyway. Another good showing for performing better than the spec in the manual. The hose fitting provided is a 32mm OD hose with no provision for use with the "AirLock"-style connector found on nearly all new DeWalt tools. As others have noted, despite a wide range of vacuum hose fittings available from DeWalt, none of them appear to be suitable for making this dust collector work with the majority of the DeWalt tool range. In response to this, I went and designed a 3D printed adapter for this hose to lock onto AirLock connectors which is demonstrated in the attached video. If you have a 3D printer you can download that and print yourself up a free solution that makes this collector finally suitable for use with most DeWalt tools.

Sent back
Worked. Hit turkey with truck, shattered windshield. Vacuum had power enough to suck up shattered glass. Also used for drywall dust. Kept dust inside through hep filter. Issue being size of tool itself holding debris. Only small to very small jobs.

Weak
Great concept, weak execution. This thing is severely underpowered. Not sure if there is a way to fix that give. it is a battery. All of my other 20v Dewalt tools seem to have plenty of power for most applications, but this thing provides next to no suction. Unfortunate given the convenience that a cordless dust extractor would have provided.I’ve tried with my palm sander, trim router, and circular saw. Every application results in about 60-70% of the dust getting all over. When I attach my household vacuum to these tools it sucks up 95% of the dust.
