Severely flared up my arthitis and impossible to use
I had really high hopes that this would be a useful tool since I cut my own hair at home. This is absolutely a horrible product. Unless you have another person to cut your hair, I don't see how anyone is able to make use of this. I've been trying over the last 2 days to get the hang of it. The video shows you combing with your fingers, curving up, and what's on top of the flat part is what you cut. Here's the problem with that: its the action of actually doing it and being consistent with your angles. The narrow "fin" is so dumb and makes it very unstable. What they should have done is just make the singular fin into a series of combs. It doesn't help that I have very wavy hair, so I wasn't able to make solid cuts. I wet my hair and comb it both before and after I cut, like anyone cutting hair should. The result was each section I was able to cut was in different lengths because of the horrible design of using the single fin which, again, is not stable and results in cutting at bad angles all too easily. On top of all that, I have arthritis issues in the hand I was using to try to get this to work (I'm not ambidextrous, so my other hand held the scissors), and I have extreme pain because of the flair up this thing forces you hand to be in.Do. Not. Buy.

not as easy as the video indicates
I'm struggling to hold the thing between my fingers and also get the hair in there. I think the guy on the video has sort of wild hair and wouldn't really know if he has long spots here and there or not. I'll keep practicing, but I'm glad I also got the other product that uses attachments and a comb. It worked real well, even by feel on the back of my head .

Nope.
Maybe because I am left-handed, but I had trouble holding it correctly. It also didn't stay in place that easily. Was unpredictable and I wasn't comfortable using it with the possibility of cutting myself because the thing moved positions or angle easily. Maybe I needed a little more instructions, because I thought the idea was clever, but I didn't find it easy to use. 👎

Clever
Although I love the idea of this product… it’s rather awkward to use. (For me anyway) I think by the time you get the hang of it you’d already be ok at cutting hair. But I think the inventor is really on to something. I do like the idea.

Awesome!!!
I am NOT a hair stylist, but I think I did a pretty dang good job cutting my husband's hair with these things and some hair cutting scissors! I used the 3" fin on the top and the 2" fin on the sides/back. Here are all the steps I did:1) Wet hair2) Comb, section, and hold top hair in place with hair clips do it doesn't get cut with the wrong size fin3) Use a comb and my fingers with the 2" fin to cut all the hair below the clips, going left to right and then top to bottom so I made sure I got all the hair from every angle4) Unclip the top hair and use the 3" fin, again going left to right and then front to back5) I used an electric clipper to trim around the ears and the back of the neck, but that's optional6) Comb the hair to loosen any leftover bits and check out the final result. My husband parts his hair on the side, as you can see in the photo, so I made sure to part it to make sure it still looked good.

Best tool of its kind
I've saved a bunch of money cutting my own and our kids' hair over the years. While I use a Robocut for some of us, some have hair that's too thick to get sucked into the cutters. I've tried the type of comb that has measured attachments to accomplish the same thing as these HairFins, but too much hair flops out the comb. With HairFins, your fingers get a much better grip than a comb has. From the picture, I expected that the fins would be tricky to keep between your fingers as work, but they stay in place easily. This is a great idea that makes cutting hair easier and quicker.
