Impressed and happy. These guys know how to make one fine bench!
All I have to say is DAMN!!!!! This is one fine as hell bench set and I ordered mine unfinished because I want to put some love into making mine look like I want with iron acetate and a hand rubbed oil finish to match the kitchen half log table I also bought from these guys. It arrived unmolested by UPS, although took awhile because I'm guessing they made this to fill my order when placed. I looked up where these guys are from. I love the area, they are truly country folks and skilled at making these benches. I'd like to submit photos or a video of these to show you how sturdy and nice they are and how they look with my kitchen table too. I guess I'll figure that out later maybe when I take a break from getting busy on the finish. If you're hesitating buying these because you're unsure of the quality or how tough they are, take my advice and buy them. You'll be as surprised as I was when the unboxing was completed. Also the packaging was done great. They screwed the legs onto 4 boards and put it in a tough thick cardboard box. It arrived in great shape, but broke the UPS delivery girl's back, which I thanked her for.

Broke when sat on bench
One of the legs broke in half when my 150lb father in law sat on the bench. And, this was only the second time this seating area was used.

Outstanding piece, very authentic
I finished it with a quick rub of ipswich pine stain on the seat surface, log ends, and legs followed by several coats of quality semi-gloss spar urethane over the whole piece - bark and all. (The seat and log ends took a very light sand with 320 grit between coats.)Looks great, very solid build.It was packaged in thin corrugated cardboard with wood braces screwed to the bottom of the legs for stability in transit. It took a bit of a beating during transit, tearing the cardboard and leaving some minor dings (which just added character, in my opinion), but the integrity of the legs was very adequately protected by the braces.
