I had some issues with BMW E60 5-series, it was running rough when cold and average fuel consumption was higher than it used to be. Dealer charges at least £50 to plug a diagnostic device before any work is done so I thought I will buy TopDon 500 OBD2 scanner and maybe I could fix car myself. First I used built-in torch to locate OBD2 socket as they are always placed in inconvenient places. TopDon supports has all seven OBD2 protocols and it will connect if your ignition is ON (important). I went for Diagnose, than Read Codes and it found glow plugs errors on all 6 cylinders. It is unlikely to have all 6 glow plugs failed it had to be a glow plug control unit. I replaced it, reset codes than read again and there was no more error codes stored. I went for a test ride while TopDon 500 was monitoring car's parameters. After 10 miles I have noticed that coolant temp was only 73 degC (BMW E60 does not have coolant temp gauge on the dash) which pointed to a faulty (always open) thermostat. Faulty thermostat will make ECU think that engine is cold and it will make it run richer hence increased fuel consumption. I replaced it and car is absolutely sublime again. I used this to check for vehicle fault codes before the vehicle manufacturers warranty expired. The unit updated easily after downloading the application and registering the unit. It was a doddle to use in my Hyundai. I was relieved to see the reassuring green LED (no fault codes) and be informed that no faults had been registered for the last 23900 miles ... meaning that the car had travelled about 200 miles from new when it registered the last fault. This unit can interrogate a load of interesting vehicle information and performance data from the ECU when the engine is running. Didn't get the chance to cancel any fault codes .... as there weren't any! Very satisfied.

The quality of this code reader is exceptionalI used it for the first time yesterday and it diagnosed the problem and then reset the sensors, I am so pleased with my purchaseHighly recommended

Works really well to fault find issues with your car. Really clear and easy to read screen. Could do with a few more features but at this price well worth the money

Tried to register to update again, apparently the registration code is still not valid so cannot update, the company where less than helpful so I may as well have bought something cheaper which would probably have done what this does.

A good quality product and very easy to setup and use. Company Website informative with useful links to lists of fault codes etc..Read my vehicle fault code and soon realised the issue was due to last fuel fill was to regular (car is a performance model) and obviously didn't agree on the lower octane ratting.

Works well, but only seems able to clear emissions related codes.
