Loved by toddlers (2 and 4 y/o)
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my oldest son years ago and we ended up losing about half of the pieces so I ended up buying a replacement because it is such a nice puzzle. The quality is outstanding as it’s thick wood with beautiful colors and metal hinges for the doors. Inside each door is a magnet that corresponds to the painting on the door and is a great thinking game for your kids to think out which magnet goes with which door. I don’t think it’s very difficult as my 4 year old can figure everything out pretty easily. My kids love playing with it and it’s a puzzle that really stood the test of time because we still have the old puzzle and it’s in great condition years later. The only reason why another was needed was for the replacement magnets. I highly suggest.

Great puzzle!
One of my child’s favorite puzzles!!! Nicely made and I love that the pieces are magnetic so when she flips the puzzle the pieces don’t fall out!

An Instant Classic!
Another Melissa & Doug hit! Love how easy this is for my daughter to open the doors and explore this toy on her own (22 months). It’s a great puzzle style educational toy that has great replay value, since we have found new ways to play with it as my daughter has reached new milestones. Great value! Perfect to start around 18 months even.

Great for 1 1/2 year old
This is a very sturdy, attractive, and easy to use puzzle. It keeps him busy opening the doors and putting the matching animal in and out of the doors. He loves “hiding” the objects. The size is perfect for him to carry.

So much fun
My one year old grandson is with me nine hours a day. He has blossomed into "new" experiences. These little doors took two days for him to figure out how to open, the opening is small and takes a moment to figure out. The doors overlap because of the small spaces when opened so he is learning cause and effect and problem solving. The magnets can be difficult to get out, but it is teaching him patience and perseverence. He has his favorite figures and walks them about my home. We have just begun putting them on the refigerator and learning to clean up by returning them to their homes in the puzzle. Great quality as usual with Melissa and Doug.

Used in OT for Fine Motor Skills
We first used this puzzle in my daughter's occupational theory to help her fine motor skills/dexterity. She really liked it so we bought one for home. Our daughter is now very fast at opening all the doors, can take the magnets out, and likes to name the pieces inside (e.g., "treasure," "nom nom," "woof woof"). I could see it maybe getting boring for some kids who find it too easy of an activity (and my daughter isn't interested in it all the time), but if you are looking to help your child with fine motor skills, it can be useful.
