This is a very handy tool. So much stuff is plastic that breaks. Now I can repair them.
I have already repaired 3 deck rail planter boxes that were splitting, and a shower bar connector that had broken. Just put the staple ends in the holes at the ends of the brass bars, press the trigger to heat the staple and place staple on the plastic to melt it in place. Just takes a second. Let it cool before pulling the welder back. For the shower rod end I used a shallow wavy staple across the break and 2 corner staples bridging the corners. I then used one of the flat spade parts that came with the welder and a bit of plastic to melt and smooth the plastic. The kit that comes with the welder had 4 bags of different shapes of staples and bag of plastic of various colors, a side cutter to clip off the ends of the staples, a cutting tool for the flat plastic sheet, and 3 attachments for welding and smoothing the plastic sheets and strips. The one thing I did that I suggest one do is use and Dremel tool or sandpaper sheet on an a stick to sand down what is left of the staple that the cutter didn't get.

Well worth the money.
This saved me from having to spend another $150 on a new wheel barrow, because the tub cracked. It was a bit tedious to repair, but I had the time to do it. The only thing the gun needs is a little stand to set it in when the flat tips are hot. I found that instead of waiting for the wire staple to heat up, I immediately put it on the plastic so it melts into it faster. There's less smoke that way, and the channel that it melts into is smaller, so it's less likely to pull out. I also use a small flat screw driver to smooth down the plastic before it completely cools, making the staples more secure. I gave up using the side cut pliers to remove the ends of the staples, it's easier to use a narrow grinding wheel. It comes with a bunch of staples and extras.

So impressed. Quick and easy to use.
This kit is amazing. I saw a demonstration of one of these systems and thought it would be useful for a project I had. It totally fixed an expensive mower part and a nearly destroyed battery box. It has a nylon rope cutter that seals the ends as it cuts them. Five stars for sure. I got my money's worth on the first day. I will be using this for many years to come. After installing the wire "staples'' you need to remove the pins that connected the staples to the gun. They suggested that just bending them back and forth would break them off. No Bueno. They supply a pair of wire cutters to use if that doesn't work. They will cut the pins off, but since they are not flush-cut diagonal cutters they leave a significant amount of the pin exposed which is sharp and unsafe. I used a Dremel tool with an abrasive disc to cut them off flush which worked much better.

Where has this been all my life?
This kit is fantastic. I bought it 2 years ago. I can fix ANYTHING now... ok so maybe that's hyperbole, but I love how solidly I can fix plastic with this thing. Initially I thought the idea was amazing but also too good to be true. Not so! The staples add a ton of strength to the repair, and they are easily covered with filler material. They heat up instantaneously and cool down almost as quickly. The hot knife attachment is indispensable. I use that more than anything. What I don't like:-I have no clue what plastic the filler rods are made of. In fact, I'm pretty sure at least the black ribbon rods are a type of hot melt glue. They may all be. I haven't read the description since I bought this, and if there was an insert in the kit, it's gone now. They really should have put a label on the bag the rods came in.-hot melt glue will never be as strong as using the same type of plastic as filler. I personally stopped using the black stuff and haven't touched any of the other colors. Though even if you take those out of the equation, this kit is still a great deal.-I wish the tip of the hot knife was bigger. The dwell time needed for thick hdpe (my garbage bin) is long, and as the knife sinks in, the plastic oozes up inbetween the two halves of the knife. Once you move it around, that bit makes the repair a little messy. It takes getting used to.-my biggest gripe is the internal cooling... there is none. The unit overheats so quickly. There must be a self resetting thermal fuse/thermistor circuit in there because after a short while, the white led goes out and the knife goes cold. I have to wait at least 10 minutes for it to cool down before it's usable again, even in colder weather.I didn't know this at first, so when it happened the first time, I nearly junked the thing. I understand electronics though. There was no burnt insulation smell, so I gave it a sec, and sure enough, it started working again. The next version needs to have louvers in the plastic shell, at minimum. Preferably, it would have active cooling. I want a much longer duty cycle. Some of the repairs I have done are quite extensive. In my pictures, I show my unfinished garbage bin repairs and my bumper's rock shield that I rebuilt with donor plastic from my broken wheel well shield.

Ignore the Negative Reviews; This Works!
There are a lot of negative reviews about this machine. I was skeptical of whether it would be of good quality and useful. i had a big job that needed a lot of welding. I have a 30 year old John Deere mower that has plastic fenders and operator's station. They are notoriously fragile and new ones, if available, are outrageously expensive. Mine had started to crack in a lot of places and some of those places were strangely shaped by the molding of the plastic. This kit had everything I needed and the gun looks and feels durable. I welded for several hours on the parts making sure to give the gun time to cool between welds. It worked flawlessly and never overheated or shut off. Couldn't be more pleased!

Great quality.
I’ve used it three times now maybe 4 hours totally and it’s worked flawlessly. Quality of accessories and gun are great. It heats up very fast and has already payed for its self. I had a broken fuse box and I was able to fix the crack and then seal up water tight using the included plastic.
