It is worth pointing out that there is a note inside the main box letting you know the additional items required for these crafts. Do read it before the 1st December! Although it says a hot glue gun, I had no intention of purchasing one of these and we have found a standard tube of UHU type clear glue is perfectly adequate. We had all the other items already. As other reviewers have said, the instruction book does show the items for each day, but you can choose not to look ahead as each craft finishes on a double page and it is more fun to have a surprise!My daughter just turned 8 and has managed to do many of these by herself. We didn't do the melting plastic beads - she actually decided to make something else with the beads.We have found this a brilliant afterschool activity and I am very likely to get her another one next year. I think it is fantastic!

Hot glue gun is not common in our house or pine cones or paper cup. If I know I will need them I wouldn’t buy it, sorry🤷‍♀️

This was a lot better than anticipated. My daughter did not want a chocolate advent calendar and we have had make up and Jewellery advent calendars in the past. As she has just come out of hospital and is not back to school this is fun and will give her a different craft to do each day. I was worried it would be too young for a 15 year old but it is really good and day one she is really looking forward to doing the 1st craft project.

A few of the boxed have loose sharp pins. One box had pins mixed through white fluffy stuffing and so my grand daughter hurt her fingers. Surely as it is a kids advent calendar there should not be loose sharp pins. Very disappointed because I thought it looked great apart from the safety issue which is of course the main thing.

Very disappointed by the quality of the materials and the originality of the projects. Most of them are really ugly (like the ones you can make at school when you are 5) and there are not eco-friendly at all. On day 1 you have to melt plastic beads in your oven! It smelt bad for days after that and I'm sure it is pretty toxic.On day 8 we did not have enough material to complete the project. Most projects can't be completed by my daughter because they involve sewing, heat gun, or other skills that only a grow-up or child age 8+ could complete. Not fun.I don't recommend this product (I also bought the Science one of the same brand, and this one is quite good).

Great projects, easy to follow instructions, nothing takes too long to finish, and my daughter created some really adorable ornaments and other crafts.

Wow this was a super fun and engaging advent calander. We will be using this brand again next year.

It is a very neat calander with cool crafts but some are on the difficult side and require extra things they don't always give you. There are a few that require sewing, although they do give you to tools to do that. Overall its great, just more targeted for older kids.

This is great. Cool crafts, nice materials. Day one creates a star ornament and everything you need is provided, you just add a baking sheet, liner paper or foil and your oven.It looks great and the crafts are nice, not too hard, not too boring.My daughter (11) and son (10) love it!Really pleased.Update: day 7 and my 6th grader still loves it. My 5th grader finds the craft instructions really hard to follow, lots (4/6) have not gone quite right for him and he’s pivoted to his own inventing, which is fine, but means the company might want to improve the instructions: he builds Lego Technik 14+ on his own!

This Purple Cow Advent Calendar is quite good. I know this because this is the second year I’ve bought it. The crafted items have a pretty good variety and only a couple of them would be loved on receipt by only an adoring grandparent!It is a cute idea to open a craft kit a day. There is an envelope included which holds oversized items for a few (not all) of the days’ crafts. Also included is an oversized paperbound book of instructions. The instructions are clear and illustrated.That said, younger kids will need adult help to complete most of the crafts.On a final note, I first bought the Purple Cow’s Craft Advent Calendar in 2023. When I searched amazon for a new calendar for 2024, I was happy to find that Purple Cow had issued a new edition of its craft calendar. To wit, the calendar at this time has this description on the amazon page:“2024 Christmas Countdown Advent Calendar”Unfortunately for me, the 2024 is exactly the same as the 2023 calendar. The photo I’ve attached shows the 2023 instruction book (which I still had) and the 2024 instruction book. They are exactly the same.So, overall, this is a nice Advent calendar, a switch from the usual one with candy. Though you could add a little piece of candy to the boxes.
