Good revision guide - read on to check you're getting the right one!
CGP have released a slew of new revision guides to address the changing maths curriculum and exams - the first students to sit the new style exams are current year 10 i.e. students taking their GCSEs in 2017. Don't buy these books if you're looking for a revision guide for 2016!There are lots of different books, and hence lots of options to choose from. To make sure you buy the most useful guide, check the following:1. Which exam board? The main boards are AQA, OCR and Edexcel. Whilst there's lots of overlap in content, buy the book that's tailored to your exam board as the question styles vary quite a bit.2. Do you want a revision guide, exam practice, both or a specialist book focusing on how to achieve the new grade 9? The revision guide is perfect if you want to check how to actually do a topic; the exam practice books are perfect if you just want to practice lots of questions, and the grade 9 book is great if you're confident and want to ensure you're giving yourself the best chance of getting the top grade.Once you've decided, I'd buy one of the CGP books with confidence. The style is chatty and a bit amusing/cringeworthy in places, which will certainly lighten the mood during revision sessions. The questions and guidance are clearly set out, and the explanations of topics are generally good. My only qualm is that with specimen papers just released, and a lack of clarity over the new grading system, I'm not sure how CGP have managed to grade individual questions - I would take these gradings with a pinch of salt.Overall, though, a recommended purchase.

Excellent value for money, great book.
Excellent for what it is made for, plenty of variation to the questions that undoubtedly will be faced in the exams. Helped me a lot.

CGP's new GCSE Maths Workbook for OCR Exam board
This is a great series of targeted Exam revision guides and in this case a workbook for Exam practice with answers.Any of these guides and workbooks will be an essential aide to getting the best chance of a high grade in the GCSE.The Contents also provide tick boxes to used to check off the topics that have been completed.First in the workbook are Exam tips. In my experience you can never afford to not pay attention as it may be something simple that the student falls down on.Also you will gain confidence from really absorbing this information.Section One- numberSection Two - AlgebraSection Three - GraphsSection Four - Ratio-Proportion and Rates of ChangeSection Five - Geometry and MeasuresSection Six - Pythagoras and TrigonometrySection Seven - Probability and StatisticsFinally AnswersThe answers are fully worked so you can see where you are going wrong, if you are not getting it right.I think that working through this in addition to being in a class with a tutor or teacher you are going to be so boosted in confidence and that is a key to getting through an exam without the nerves overwhelming the exam taker.

This is a clear and comprehensive revision guide for GCSE ...
This is a clear and comprehensive revision guide for GCSE Maths. It has sections on all the major topics: Number, Algebra, Graphs, Ratio Proportion & Rates of Change, Geometry & Measures, Pythagoras & Trigonometry, and Probability and Statistics, plus some practice papers, and a section with answers at the back. As you'd expect with a revision guide, it's fairly dry and unexciting, though I did detect what seemed to a an attempt a humour at the beginning of the book.

Very Useful Practice Workbook
The New GCSE Maths OCR Exam Practice Workbook is jam-packed with sections, and sub-sections, of all aspects of the new GCSE in Maths, being sat from 2017 onwards. The main sections are as follows:- Number, Algebra, Graphs, Ratio, Proportion, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Probability. Each of these main areas is further divided into smaller sections, for example, the Algebra section has sub-sections about Algebraic Fractions, and also about Simultaneous Equations. After the questions, listed for each section separately, there are some practice test papers. these are supposed to be timed tests, so allow yourself enough time to complete them. Full answers are included at the end, to allow you to check your progress, and highlight what areas may need extra work on them.Overall, the practice workbook is a very useful question book, and I recommend it highly.
