My go-to pair
Absolutely brilliant. I've gone through half a dozen binoculars over the years of various styles and sizes and have been looking for that elusive perfect pair and these getty pretty damn close. I've been using them for about 6 months now.I previously had another pair of 8x32 Opticrons which were a bit more compact than these but the field of view was a bit restricted when wearing glasses. These however have a wonderful wide view even with specs. The image is bright and clear across a good portion of the eyepiece. Focus wheel is smooth and precise. Near-focus range is about 2 m which is great for getting a zoomed in view of butterflies and the like during the summer. There's no discernible spherical or chromatic aberration. There's a tripod mounting point which is handy. They're both light and sturdy in the hand and feel very solidly built. The neck strap is nicely padded, one side is a soft rubber and the other more fabric-y so it's easy to find something that doesn't slip on jacket material and something softer when wearing a t-shirt. The lens covers are also good and don't fall off which is welcome. There's some lens flare when under bright sun or looking across water for example but this is a fairly minor gripe. As these are good quality I've found the image brightness is equivalent to a larger cheaper 8x42 so I'd save the weight and bulk and use these. They aren't the cheapest in the world but feel like very good value.

Binoculars
I bought these after returning another VERY well known brand (8x42). The other pair didnt suit my IPD (pupils). These are very well made, easy to use, and produce a very clear well lit subject. Ideal for bird watching. As these are 10x42 they are more suited to long distance viewing, and be honest how many birds perch 10 feet away from you?

Better than most at this price
This 10x42 version is excellent! Comparing it to similar specification binoculars at the intermediate level ( Opticron in my opinion do this Oregon 4 oasis binocular a disservice by describing it on their website as suitable for the first time or occasional user..) it’s much better than that… I’ve looked through similar priced 10x42 binoculars offered by vortex, Nikon, vanguard & Bushnell and this opticron is better…oasis coating i believe is the equivalent or the same as a dielectric coating which provide increased light reflectivity. These Oregon’s also have phase coatings which are essential in a roof prism binocular ( Porro prism binoculars don’t need them ) all these coatings really make a difference and optically for the money, these are very good indeed. Close focus on these 10x42’s is 2.3 metres but i measured it to be nearer 2 metres which is excellent for a 10x magnification binocular. 18mm of eye relief I found just about enough when viewing with eye glasses on. The field of view is 6* which is adequate and the build quality is decent and on the sample I received the focus wheel was extremely light & smooth in operation. These Oregon’s really sparkle and would be very suitable for bird watching and all types of nature observation. Highly recommended!
