Q: Do these dr pure blues strings have a wound g-string (the 3rd string) ?

I don't think so. Their perfect for almost anything. Great strings for playing the blues and even the 10 gauge strings don't hurt your fingers once you start playing on them.

Q: I had these on for one day and the winding on the D string came loose? I didn’t stretch the strings because I heard that you’re not supposed to.

Just sounds like a defective string to me. I use DR, D'Addario and Ernie Ball and have been playing since 1965.....NEVER had a string unwind at the bridge end! As far as stretching strings.....stretch them good before the first tuning. If you don't everything is going to go flat on you for a long time.....keeping tuned is hard enough when the strings are fully stretched......so much info on youtube!

There is no specific reason why you are experiencing that wear. Try looking at what you are playing. If you are playing a lot of stuff in A major or G minor pentatonic or similar, you just may be fretting notes at those locations more than others and hence simply wearing the string out ahead of others.
