Great performance!
Being into high end 'Hi-Fi' headphones rather than gaming headsets, I found myself needing a mic. A friend reccomended the mod mic by Antlion so I got one and it is excellent! However curiosity also made me get one of these, despite the somewhat 'mixed' reviews and I can say that for the price, this little mic is EXCELLENT.It clearly picks up my voice and suprisingly, not much of the background noise either. I have done a side by side recording of my voice with both this and the modmic, and the difference is MINIMAL. This mic picks up really well and almost sounds the same as the modmic (which is 4 times the price), it is a little noisier, but thats due to its design and placement.Overall a great product and the best value 3.5mm mic on amazon.

It looked promising; but I was let down :(
I'm not too sure why most reviews of this microphone state that it pics voice up well, because the results I got from my use were quite contradictory (pehaps I have a faulty microphone).First of all I'd like to state the pro's of this mic as it is very usable especially for £6! The clips provided were a bit small for my "Audio-technica ath-m40x's cable" but the big clip housing the microphone (the one shown in the products picture)slotted on perfectly and was all that was necessary to keep my microphone steady.Unfortunately when It came to using the microphone I wasn't pleased; team-mates and friends often complained that they couldn't hear me and most of the time I had to resort to holding the mic directly in front of my mouth (a real hassle when trying to game). When recording game play my voice couldn't be heard at all and the only thing that was coming from the mic was a high pitch, static buzz.Using the microphone in TeamSpeak often got me kicked from the channel because of this background static, which could've been solved if I changed my settings to "Voice activation detection" but then no one could hear me because no voice was detected from the mic with its bad pick up!To conclude I wouldn't recommend this mic for gaming or any other task which requires both of your hands and for the mic to work accurately. Although for £6 this mic would be very suitable for skyping with family or for other simple useDissapointed with the outcome of this purchase :/

My my my, been using this little guy for ages and he hasn't let me down
I must say for the price this clip on mic is amazing. Do a lot of online gaming on my pc over the past 7 years since it was built and this guy has served me well and true for many of them. Before getting this I used to use a selection of gaming headsets with mics and while the quality of the mic was generally better there, the sound quality was much worse. Hence after just getting decent headphones to use with my pc that didn't have a mic (audio technica m20x), I needed something along these lines to fill in the missing mic gap.My friends commented the mic didn't sound as good as ones on my previous gaming headsets but it was still pretty decent quality. And for the price you can't go wrong. Ideally you would be using something like Discord/Teamspeak/Mumble etc anyway with push to talk or voice activated talk so background noise wouldn't be going through to those you're speaking too.

Really good for the price and convenience.
The mic hasn't stood the test of time yet, I've only used it twice thoroughly for gaming but from what I can tell it's pretty nifty. It seems sturdy enough, and the sound quality is nice - a lot nicer than past mics or headsets I have used. I bought this to replace my expensive Roccat Kave headset after it snapped, and another headset I'd ordered from elsewhere came faulty. Being fed up with headsets I'd almost given up on getting a replacement - until I found a thread online talking about this mic being good value. They weren't wrong.Pros:Picks up your voice well, and is pretty clear.Convenient, you can use it with any combination of headphones etc. Not limited to a headset.Does exactly what it's supposed to - a decent mic for the price. Plug and play.Cons:Picks up maybe a bit TOO much, it's not noise cancelling so be conscious if you're using this for Skype or recording. I use for Ventrilo and it's fine on push to talk but yet to see if it's too much for open mic as I need for Skype also. The clip isn't great, it keeps sliding off things; clothes, wires etc. That's easily fixable though - I plan to attach it to another clip or something. All in all, very good value and hassle free. No idea why I've been using pricey 'good quality' headsets all these years when I could have got this instead, I feel kind of stupid!

Not that great for gaming or chatting. Good for instrumental recording.
Quality is good when you attach it near your mouth. But clips don't hold well. You have to have near your mouth for people to be able to hear you. It's really good mic for instrumental recording but not that great for using while gaming or chatting. Tried variety of ways to make it work in gaming/chatting but only one way worked which is putting it on my old mic on my headset which makes it look ridiculous and uncomfortable.

I don't understand the praise for this at all
I have a pair of AT m50x's, and this was recommended on a forum I was browsing while looking for good clip-on mics on Google. Due to the lack of a mechanical clip you can only really attach it to your headphone's cable, and there is no adjustable arm so the mic pretty much just sits on the cable. This causes several problems - for one, you can't get it to pick up your voice at an audible level without using the max mic boost settings on Windows. Not only that, but it is completely omnidirectional and since the mic is going to be well below your neck it will:a) be picking up all sorts of unwanted background noiseb) make your voice sound extremely foggy if you are looking at your screenTerrible, terrible design. All I wanted was a way to mod my headphones instead of having to buy a redundant but comparable headset. If you're looking to do just that I'd have to recommend getting a ModMic, I ordered one of those today.
