Why does it claim to be pure omega 3 when it has a omega 6 added via the tocopherol

As far as I can see, it states that it's pure fish oil, which I take to mean that the fish oil is pure. I can see no claim for it being pure omega 3. If it did, I'd assume that it meant that the omega 3 was pure, not that it contained purely omega 3. After all, I can't imagine the capsule shells being made just from omega 3.

Does Natures Best Fish Oil provide the same ‘joint benefits’ as cod liver oil? (as well as fish oil’s known higher EPA and DHA and no vitamin C and D)

Pure fish oil has a higher level of DHA and EPA which is rich in Omega 3, COD LIVER OIL contains Omega 3 and vitamin A & D both are beneficial for the health of the heart, joints, brain, vision, and skin. Hope this helps.

Are these the EE or triglyceride form?

Hello Miss O'Sullivan, Thank you for your query. All our capsules which provide Fish Oil contain the ethyl ester (EE) form. The vast majority of published clinical research on Omega 3 fish oil uses ethyl esters as these have been more readily accessible and more cost effective. Nature's Best always uses safe, clinically approved forms of nutrients and we review the available clinical literature regarding safety, efficacy and dosage before developing a product. This allows us to ensure that we are offering relevant strengths with every supplement. We do recognise that some studies suggest that triglycerides (TGs) are better absorbed and we have considered launching a TG fish oil. This is still something that we would consider if we felt that our customers felt strongly about their use but the reason we haven't launched a product to date, is that we always fall back to the point that we already have an excellent EE product that is at a level that is both considered efficacious and cost effective. If there was ever any doubt over safety this would be a very different issue but this is one of the worldwide most heavily consumed supplements with an excellent safety record. The reality that we see in the market, is that you would need to take significantly more TGs in order to get a good level of EPA and DHA. So although they may be better absorbed you need more oil to achieve the potency required. This is probably why EEs were created as they are considerably more concentrated. Many of the studies into TGs used very small groups or animal works which while demonstrating TGs absorption capacity did not find any negative evidence against the use of EEs. As an alternative to ethyl esters, we do have liquid Cod Liver Oil (product code 450) which is in the TG form and may be a suitable alternative for you. The recommended dose is one 5ml teaspoon daily which provides 350mg of EPA and 460mg of DHA. Can the supplied tell which type of fish is used to make this product? Does it include anchovies?

Thank you for your query. Fish Oils are sourced from a range of different oily fish, depending on the season and availability, and are not from farmed fish. We do not disclose the specific areas from which the fish we use are caught because this is subject to change depending on the time of year and availability, although typically it is Scandinavia and South America. Furthermore, insisting upon fish caught in a certain area or ocean has the potential to lead to overfishing, which then causes issues with sustainability. It is therefore possible for the fish oil to contain oil from anchovies. I hope this is useful.
