This is the palette want if you paint with watercolors
This is a large, very well made, and sturdy palette being made of a thick slab of porcelain. It is very white making your colors appear true, and it is very level so your paint does not puddle in low spots. This is meant more for your studio as it is large and heavy, but you could take it into the field and not worry about it breaking as it is very sturdy. Before I bought it I wondered if I really needed 33 paint wells but I have quickly realized that having that many is perfect for someone like me who likes to use many pure and blended colors - it amazed me how quickly I wound up using most all of them. It comes with a plastic cover to keep your palette free from dust and accidental disturbances when you are not using it, and it keeps your paint from drying out in the short term had ther not been a cover. The cover is not completely air-tight but it fits closely so it works well. I am glad to have invested the money in this.

Like it
Good quality arrived undamaged. Porcelain palettes are great for watercolor. I love the large number of slots for colors and the 2 partitions for mixing. It’s heavy but not too unwieldy. The medium size makes it perfect for my table. The lid is great as it keeps out the cats and bugs. Highly recommend!

So happy with this ceramic palette!
After reading a few bad reviews I waited to buy this palette. After comparing this Meeden palette to ones on Blick's site for $103 or more. I decided to give this one a chance for $43. It is perfect for my watercolor painting sessions in my small office. It is not for traveling because it is heavier and bigger than you want for travel painting. The wells are large and deep and the lid is more sturdy than some complaints claimed. I will be adding my watercolors to the wells and creating a key for the colors! I am happy!

Too heavy and big - had to return
This is a FANTASTIC palette, but I have arthritis and can't lift it from one location to the other easily. It is too big to fit on my art table, so I can't use it at all. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quality palette for your studio, if you have room for it. I don't think the measurements are correct on the website - seems way bigger.

Makes mixing watercolors a joy.
The wells that hold the paint are huge, and the two mixing indentations are big enough to mix two or three different tints/shades in each. Or use one for massive amounts of color for a wash and the other for smaller amounts of different colors. If something dries out, add water and keep going. Brushes just glide across the surface when you're blending and it's insanely easy to clean up. The plastic cover keeps dust off your wells and it has a couple of additional mixing panels as well. A truly wonderful palette to have if you're painting with watercolors or gouache at home. I say "at home", but you could take it on the road with you as long as you lay it flat, which may not be always convenient. I tried transporting vertically it in a drawing carrying case and discovered that the wet wells allowed paint to leak from the wells into surrounding wells. If it wasn't for the cover, paint would have gone everywhere in the drawing case. But that's my bad. I didn't think before carrying it that way. A mistake I never made again. It's a wonderful palette and I'll be using it for the rest of my life. I have no problem recommending it.

Love it as a studio palette
This is a nice, big, heavy, ceramic palette with a lid. I especially like the lid--there are similar ones for more money that don't come with a lid. Certainly not for travel or carrying around, but ideal for my work table at home. Big mixing area, cleans without staining.

Nice slick surface for mixing paint
I like the enamel surface. It is very slick and easy to mix paint and to clean. So far, mine hasn't stained and I have used some staining paints on it. It is not good for travel or plein air painting. It's heavy and the lid doesn't fit airtight. This doesn't bother me because I have a Craig Young palette for plein air and, if I spray my paints at the end of the day and insert a wet paper towel in the palette, my paints stay nice and moist. The palette is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend it.
