Beautiful, simple, functional
This is one of those terrific classic pieces that will never go out of style. I will be using it for everything from serving food at holiday dinners to using it as a base for an arrangement of candles, flowers or fruit. This glossy white serving bowl is gorgeous, and I will be constantly using this all year long, year after year. The bowl is about 3.25 inches tall and is a generous 12 inches wide. It could easily hold a huge mound of mashed potatoes, pasta or dressing and would look lovely piled up with pears, mini pumpkins, Easter eggs, pine cones, or other decorative items. I have included a photo with a soup can in it to show the scale of this large bowl.I chose the solid white one and it is so simple yet so gorgeous. The finish is glossy, and the porcelain china has a lovely weight to it yet it's not too heavy to confidently and safely handle. This serving bowl can be used in the microwave and freezer, as well as safely washed in the dishwasher. So far I have handled it with kid gloves and only hand washed it, because I love this thing and want to keep it forever! The bottom has a small Made In mark which I am quite proud of. I own several Made In pieces and am just so impressed with them all. It seems this company really has searched the world for the best cookware, knives, servware, etc. This beautiful bowl is no exception. It was Made In England and is simply beautiful and so functional. It will get so much use and will never go out of style. Would make a lovely wedding or housewarming gift.

Not Your Usual Junk
When I saw that I was being offered the opportunity to write a Vine review of a serving dish made in England, I jumped at the chance. (I don't order items that I wouldn't buy.) I love quality ceramics, the simpler the better, and this one looked to hit all the right buttons.First, I was pleased to discover that my Made In serving bowl arrived in a beautiful box--I'll remember this when I'm looking to purchase a gift. As others have noted, this is a LARGE bowl. Its weight is substantial and its proportions are pleasing. This bowl will be suitable for serving food that can be heaped, as well as food that's served in portions (e.g. stuffed cabbage or peppers). I intend to leave mine on my breakfast room table--it's large enough to double as a fruit or bread bowl when it's not on active duty during meals. In other words, too nice to put away.I'll be honest: while I know what vitrification is, I was unfamiliar with "vitrified china" being used to describe tableware. I gather that the process renders china glassier and more durable than non-vitrified china. "Glassy" certainly applies; its durability remains to be seen but given the impression it makes, I think it will hold up to normal usage very well. And while I can't imagine a situation that would involve freezing this bowl, putting it in the oven to keep food warm is likely; fortunately, the manufacturer claims it can safely do both. It's also dishwasher safe, so all in all, I think this Made In serving bowl represents excellent value for the money, especially considering that this line is made in England. If you're looking for good quality everyday china, Made In should be on the top of your list. With care, your grandkids will be bugging you for it someday.

Smooth Glossy Finish▪️Well Crafted In England▪️Practical & Versatile▪️No Lead/Cadmium▪️Off White
This “Made In Cookware” serving bowl is a lovely ceramic piece well crafted in England. It has a smooth, glossy finish with no imperfections. While “white” is a fair color description, the shade looks more like an “off white” color when the bowl is next to bright white dishes, such as my Corelle Winter Frost White dishes. The bowl is close in color to my Made In Cookware mugs (also made in England) that I love and use often. This 12” bowl is wide and deep enough to serve dishes like mashed potatoes. While the sides are higher than a platter, it can pass for one when serving some foods such as whole asparagus spears. It’s a nice, large size suited to large family style meals and gatherings. This bowl is thick and sturdy and feels solid and durable. The vitrification process used should make this bowl less prone to scratch, chip or crack. I really like that this bowl is so practical given that it’s dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer safe. This is a great bowl for daily use and it’s also suited to year round entertaining. I’ll even use it over the holidays given the pretty medium shade of red around the rim. The bottom of the bowl says “made in England”. It’s nicely boxed for protection and a great first impression and is a premium quality bowl that continues to impress as I use it more. I’m also pleased that it’s lead and cadmium free. Love it. 5 stars.
