Works great. Super value. Easy to use. Great Screen
Unbelievable value. Great color screen. Easy to read. Real buttons for real human fingers. Does the job of a basic VHF UHF ham radio. Come on, <$30 for a radio with all the extras - chargers, 2 antennas, earbuds, etc? The charger for my Yaesu cost more than this entire kit! And the sound on this is better than the $180 Yaesu. Perfect for everyday use, or a backup or for stashing wherever you may need a radio in an emergency. Far better than the regular format Baofangs.

This is a solid tri-band HT
I have had this radio for a couple weeks and here are my impressions. First off I took it a field day and it did a nice job. Hitting the local repeaters with the rubber duck. I received great audio reports. I prefer to use the 15 inch duck since the shorter antenna is marginal. I program the UV-21R with Chirp using the UV-17 pro download. This was recommended by the vendor site, and seems to work well. I’ve had a lot of success operating 220 with his radio making my first contacts ever and I’ve decided to convert one radio to a base station using a home brew 1/4 wave ground plane antenna. So I just ordered an orange one for my walk about. Build quality is high and all functions work good. Some pros I have noticed:Great speaker audio. Two pin mice plug is properly designed.USB C is a big plus.Radio selectivity is very good.Wish it had these:Ability to lock a channel in and out of scan.Better base for standing on a table.Nice job Baofeng, I may have to try the green one :)73, from General operator Tim.

Upgraded from older Baofeng Radios
I like the easy of programming and the feel of the new radio, works well with all the surrounding repeaters. What I dislike like about it is the display is extremely hard to read when you are outdoors, it seems to be dim and hard to read if you're on Channel A or B

Great radios to have for the price
Radios are great and easy to use. Programming the radios with the computer is better for me. The range on them are about 1.5 miles great audio transmitting and receiving. The functionality with other 2 pin connections is great and love it can be recharged with the dock or usb c type.

Great ham radio
This is a great ham radio for the go bag or hobbyists. In my opinion this is one of the easiest ham radios to learn and use. The build quality is great , battery lasts for a long time, charges fast via the type c port in the back of the battery and the range is pretty decent for the price. .

Good price point
For the money a good radio, good modulation and holds a good battery life. Desktop charger is nice, as well as being able to charge it with usb as well, makes this a good radio for all around use.

Display unreadable in sunlight, not splashproof!
Has a great feature list... but a handheld radio that is only useful inside, what good is that? This display is barely readable in overcast skies or direct sunlight (see photos). Had to go find shade to change menu settings or easily switch channels. The display also turns off entirely after a few seconds. If you later glance at the radio, you will have to hit a button to wake up the display. Get a radio with a traditional LCD display; a battery-draining color LED display is not a good idea for a handheld radio. This product listing says it is IP54 certified (splash-resistant), but the manual explicitly says keep away from water to avoid damage(!!) and there is no IP rating anywhere on the product, box, or manual. False advertising!By comparison, an IP55-rated Baofeng UV9R with "waterproof" printed on the case is completely visible in sunlight and the display remains easily visible after the backlight times out and shuts off.I did test 222 Mhz on the UV21R, and it worked: I was able to hit a tall repeater ~15 miles away. This has a cell phone style keypad, but the center select button between the up-down arrows does... Nothing! It is non-functional in the menus. It's too bad... this radio has a hefty solid feel, excellent feature set, rain resistance would be welcome, and the many accessories included for the great price would make it a great value... if it was *usable*.Until they fix these deal breaking flaws in a next-gen version though, avoid this radio.
