It's worth your money and time 💯
I had to pick it up ASAP after finishing The Match, Oh my Junieee and Ryan 🤭🥰🫣I just love "She fell first but He was obsessed the whole time" trope 🥹 and The Enemy served that very well...!!The self healing, the banter, the close door romance, the oops moments, the drama, the second chance, the family support...I enjoyed everything🥹❤️🥰🌸

This was a quick read for me.
This is the second book in the series and it's about Jack's sister June and her childhood nemesis turned famous hotshot chef, Ryan Henderson."It’s been twelve years since I’ve seen him. Twelve years since his smug face leaned down to kiss me, stopped just before our mouths met, smirked, and then turned and walked out of my life forever."I really love the enemies to lovers romance trope but I hate it when it's is one sided that too over a single grudge that happened years ago which that causes unnecessary hatred. Unfortunately that was all the story was about and I lost interest because of that."All I know is that June says she hates me. But I don’t hate her. In fact, I think I’m just as crazy about her as I was back then."June was an independent woman who was successful in her buisness that she co owned with her bestfriend Stacey. Now, that Stacey is getting married to her long time sweetheart and her fiance Logan is bestfriends with Ryan, it's obvious that Ryan is invited to their wedding that causes Ryan & June to face each other a lot.“June, I’m not your enemy. I never was.”Since the beginning itself we see that Ryan doesn't hate June as much as she does and he's always liked her since he was twelve. I admit that part was cute but, the characters acted like they were still teenagers when they were in their thirties. The banter felt really dry and immature.“You don’t hate me.” “I might,” I say quietly. “But you don’t.” I swallow. “I should.” “You love the competition just as much as I do.”Throughout the story, June constantly mentions how they both used to bug each other a lot in school simply to annoy one another but only a few of the instances were mentioned. It would have been a lot more easier to connect with the characters if their past in school was mentioned briefly. Ryan was the main pursuer and always found ways to barge into June's life, sometimes I thought it was cute but then I started to see that he was also overbearing. June did not have a good experience with her past relationship and she developed some insecurities due to that. It was the only thing that was relatable about her character. On top of that, she had some ridiculous "one date only" rule thing going on and that made me annoyed at her.Basically the whole book was about June not taking a chance to get to know the men who were interested in her beyond one date and when Ryan comes along, that rule magically disappears. Also, their date takes place in the last few chapters and that felt a lot like the plot was dragged.Overall, the story was good but cliche and there were a lot of unnecessary monologues which I just skimmed through. I don't know, I finished the book quicker than it usually takes me to finish one? The writing was engaging, I have no qualms about that but the story lacked angst and I just couldn't connect with the characters and their conflicts. The book was soft and dry. If you want to read something fun without a lot of drama or a complicated plotline, give this a try.

A Feel-good Heart warming story
I love June. She has some insecurities that she's struggling with. Her last relationship didn't end well. She has had a bad experience with it. I love Ryan, too. He is one of my favourite male fictional characters. He is charming and very helpful. I love June and Ryan together. The chemistry between them is very enjoyable to read. They made me laugh so much. June was literally searching for an ugly face at the party, thinking Ryan was ugly. This was so funny. They are very caring for each other. The little things they do for each other are so pure and beautiful. The supporting characters are enjoyable too. Stacy, Logan and June's family. I really like them. Stacy and Logan are so cute together. Ryan and Logan are more like brothers than friends. I liked the friendship between Stacy and June. This book is a cute, lighthearted, funny, wholesome, closed romance. I enjoyed it very much. I will definitely recommend this book.
