How about 4.5 stars due mainly to sound quality when not fully submerged?
Difficult trying to decide to award 4-stars or 5-stars.PLUS's: These are an excellent product, super-comfortable, stay on, have a LONG battery life, and work very well. With the phone app (pretty necessary) and the included USB cable, it's pretty intuitive to load MP3s from computer into the headphones. Bluetooth also works very well between iphone and headphones. These bone-conduction headphones are optimized for swimming and they seem to be well thought out, very well made, comfortable, durable, and include everything you need including a perfect case of some kind of soft rubbery material that feels good in the hands and is just the right size. Sound quality when both ears are mostly submerged (backstroke) is just perfectly amazing - very full and accurately pleasing sound. But...MINUS's: The sound quality when the ears are NOT fully underwater is somewhat tinny and disappointing - even when not in 'swim mode'. In 'swim mode' while swimming, each time one side of the head raises out of water (breaststroke, fly, crawl) that ear's volume and quality decreases markedly. That really does reduce the pleasure of listening to music and audiobooks while swimming laps. The controls are minimalist and clever and you'll need to learn how to find the right button and clicks to increase or decrease the volume, change from MP3 to Bluetooth mode, pause, skip forward and back, etc.So, they're kinda expensive and I'm happy with them and use them all the time but I'm not totally thrilled with the sound when I'm listening out of the water, swimming freestyle, etc.

These are wonderful with a tiny small "but" ...
First, I love these better than any other "headphone" or earbud option I've tried. They're waterproof, so no amount of sweat at the gym is going to bother them, and you can indeed swim with them, and these things STAY ON your head.Every other ear-bud type I've tried needs occasional adjustment to keep from falling out, or, eventually falls out because of sweat at gym, or other activities and movements. The Shokz OpenSwim Pro will stay on your head no matter what you do, or how active you are. You can probably take these surfing and get beat by waves and they'll stay on.The only complaints I have are that phone and app is strongly recommended, and when on MP3 mode with shuffle enabled, it doesn't remember the last song played so if you want to go back it just loads a different song in the shuffle, and the shuffle feature's lack of memory also makes it where a song you just heard 3 or 4 songs ago gets repeated a lot sooner than expected even if you have 16GB of a LOT of music to choose from. I have a 20-year-old mp3 player from another other company that doesn't have this minor annoyance, but, it's not waterproof, and it's not wireless, and Shockz OpenSwim Pro covers those important features, as well as staying on me head.Additionally, they sound great, plus the open-ear feature allows for better situational awareness wherever you are, though, you can turn the volume up enough that you won't notice things going on around you if you want.Further, these last a LONG time; at least 7 hours non-stop. I also don't even feel these on my head, so there's no long-term discomfort issues as can happen with some earbuds.I was going to give these 4 stars, but, despite the minor issues noted, because these are so great at everything else, they merit 5 stars.

Fantastic Sound & Comfort – Perfect for Swimming and Running!
The SHOKZ OpenSwim Pro is a game-changer for both swimming and running! The bone conduction technology delivers clear, high-quality sound, allowing me to enjoy my favorite music without needing traditional earbuds. Whether I'm in the pool or out on a run, the fit is super comfortable and stays securely in place.I love that it's fully waterproof, making it perfect for long swim sessions, and it performs just as well for outdoor runs—no worrying about sweat or rain. The battery life is impressive, and the controls are easy to use, even on the go.If you're looking for a versatile, high-quality audio solution for swimming, running, or any active lifestyle, this is a must-have! Highly recommend

Won't sound as good as AirPods Pro but that's to be expected. Works great in the water.
I really enjoy listening to music as I workout, and these are the perfect addition to my swim workouts.Pros:- Sound quality is good, especially in the water.- They stay on snug, only fell of once but I slid into the water in an odd way.- Easy to upload MP3s (or other audio files).Cons:- Occasionally I have to reset the earbuds because MP3s won't play, still haven't figured this out I'm not sure if my playlist is ending. Even when I skip tracks and reboot I can't get them to play, I need to do a full reset, this only happens once after every couple of uses though.- Doesn't sound as good as AirPods Pro or other in ear/over ear headphones. This is to be expected though considering the nature of the design and waterproofing, so I don't mind.- I attempted using these for work calls but my coworker complained about the mic. Not really the purpose of this headset so I don't mind, I've seen reviews online mentioning how they use it for calls though so I would argue those are misleading.Overall great headset for what it is made for. If you aren't a swimmer I would recommend some AirPod pros or something else, if you want to use something in the water though these are great!Overall great headphones for a swim workout.
