Chef Knife - The new member of my Kitchen
Seller - Great Indian Sale Deals. (Delhi). (prime delivery - 610, super deal). This is an excellent knife, super sharp out of the box, i ran through the edge (check image) of the knife and sliced a peel of skin from my Right Index Finger. The knife is double beveled (both sides of edges are sharp) so it is good for both right hand and left hand Chefs. Weight of knife is sufficient, the knife is well balanced and my index finger balances the knife from the Bolster (check image). I purchased this knife because it is full tang knife with bolster, this feature provides more stability and comfortable grip, the tip of knife is curved so it allows for rocking motion cut. Rivets (check image) in Chef Knife are 1/4 inch that helps us to measure batonnet cuts, distance between 2 rivets is used to measure Battonnet lengh technically,Knife is made in China but razor sharp.Things you should follow to take care of this 13 inch blade.1) Wash with clean water and apply very mild soap (Vim, Exo) but do not touch edge and do not wash handle until absolutely necessary. Clean the knife with cloth, do not wipe the edge, they are razor sharp. Store the knife in safe place, use magnet holder (be sure they are strong) or a drawing paper wrap housing and keep it at side of shelf.2) Use Teak wood chopping board, very costly but long life (Go to market and buy a big board) and oil it regularly, always use cutting board else the blades will go blunt, never use a glass or stainless steel chopping board, it will make knife useless. Second option is Bamboo board, do not buy a board with hanging slot as it is an area which is useless in the board, buy a plain clean wooden board and keep it in kitchen shelf.3) Keep the knife away from children or any one, else they will have serious accident.4) Always carry your knife in busy house or commercial kitchen with Tip (check image) pointing down and edge towards your thigh and keep your arm rigid.5) Never grab a falling knife as falling knife has no handle and we have natural instinct to catch a falling object. This will avoid injuries.6) Always rock the knife so it cuts away from body and never towards your body (rocking motion).7) Prefer tip fulcrum method where tip of knife stays touched in chopping board and edge moves.8) Use claw grip and use knuckles to guide your knife and keep your thumb tucked behind fingers (claw grip).9) Keep your eyes on the blade while dicing, chopping or mincing.10) Never put knife in sink full of water.11) Use a knife sharpener rod to sharpen the knife, do not give this knife to any blade smith else they will spoil it forever (check Youtube videos).Packaging can be improved as knife was kept in carton box with no support of foams, airbags or thermocole and shipped, the first thing i checked is the balance of knife and tip shape, it was good so did not return it.Go for it, if you know how to use it, you will not be disappointed.Learn to use this knife if you are planning to buy it and you love to cook.Amazon is always amazing to provide deliver before time with trusted customer care and polite delivery agents with complete tracking. Thank You Amazon.Happy Cooking.

A premium feeling knife at a decent price but not perfect either! But I am Ok with it
>My prestige chef knife broke after 7 years so had to buy one...all these years I was happy with my previous one...8 inch was so comfortable and i believe everyone should have a chef knife at home..i cannot use any other>was worried about the size but happy when it turned out to be 8 inch(blade) total 13 plus inch...right size for me...was very happy to see it as it lookes beautiful and premium...>has good weight and i like that weight ( i dont know why people want a chef knife and say its heavy!)..its supposed to be that way...>balance: some people said no balance...but this has a good balance on the bolster..nothing wrong with it...just ignorant comments>was nervous abt the handle but it feels good and grips well when not wet...so keep it dry...i preferred a bigger rounder handle of my prestige (now they dont sell)>blade is not that narrow in front so beware of that..it means you will not get a higher angle and front side part touches the board easily so cutting skills to be slightly adjusted...but this is not a problem so far>sharpness: people are expecting it to cut paper (this is not 20k knife its 600 rupees!)...it is pretty sharp for what it shoudl do...as someone said may be they dont send a super sharp knife and getting it properly sharpened may be useful...but for now it's very sharp>what is not ok? it's thick..while it may last long, due to it's single forged blade (full one piece) it is thick...seems like things stick and the cut isnt that precise...but will see how it behaves with time (just one day old now)...I wanted to buy solimo blade but bought this because it is Godrej...solimo seems slim so i wonder whether that is good...but this blade is sturdy and good quality one...but thick..let me see>sharpness: tried tomato impact...it cut it very well without pressure...so i believe is sharp...>rocking motion may need slight adjustment as the narrow pointer area is not that narrow in front...slightly bulged so that part hits the board first and restricts easier movement...but if we adjust cutting style a bit it shouldnt be a problem i guess..overall i am happy , it feels premium, godrej name confidence instilling, is super sharp for my use and infact aftraid of whether is too sharp, but pitfall is thickness but i think that shouldnt be a prob and i can tell only with time> i bought finger guard with it for 150...pls buy one it helps...i am a pro in cutting but my family needs training...>since is heavy and big i had to think a lot on storing it well, I will get an old knife box which is at home...i felt storing properly is imp...if falls could get spoilt...> i will perhaps also buy a simple knife as well ...this one i will try solimo (smaller size usual knife)

Performance
This a must have knife for all home cooks, if cooking means really something. Right from the sturdiness to the sharpness combined with the right weight balance has been impeccable.I have been using santoku style knife for the past 3 years, this is my first knife experience with this knife and already in love. Would advice a proper wood chopping board with it
