Q: Can i use this on a pump that has a small pressure tank? (It has a simple 40/60psi pressure controller -if no water, keeps pumping to fill P-tank)

This controller has a built in pressure sensor. I have it connected to an underground sprinkler system without a pressure tank. When the water is shut off, the pump will run until the pressure in the system is built up to a preset setting. I do not know if that setting is adjustable or not. This controller is designed to take the place of the traditional pressure tank/switch combination. I suppose you could use it with a pressure tank, depending on the pressure of the tank and the setting of the pump. But if the pressure switch was left there, it may interfere with the automatic function of this controller. Perhaps not if it were set higher than the cutoff of this controller. Then it ( the pressure switch) would just be connected and not utilized.
