Great tasting, quality Turkish black tea
Watching a long Turkish drama series (165 episodes!) I got to see a custom practiced very often in that series: whenever somebody visits somebody, whether acquaintances, friends or family, they're offered tea! Being a tea drinker myself, I was curious to know what kind of tea is served in Turkey. Luckily, Amazon has quite a few selections to choose from. I've decided to start with this Caykur brand of black tea, which is described as grown in the Black Sea region, without pesticides.I didn't realize the bag had quite a bit of tea in it! At the rate of 1 full teaspoon of tea for each cup of water, I'll be drinking this tea for a long time! Which is fine by me, because I've found the taste to be excellent, with a little sweetness to it, and a mild pleasant fragrance. It also has a nice clear reddish brown color, which looks really enticing when served in the traditional little clear glass cups (that will be my next purchase!). As a bonus, it is equally delicious as hot tea or cold iced tea. Some people may have a problem with the tea being ground, if they had expected tea leaves. This is not a problem for me because I have a really good strainer.I feel that this purchase was a great value for my money.

Delicious!
As a young adult, I hated tea and never thought I would later in life. However, I moved to Turkey for a couple years back in the 1980s and lived in a small village near the city of Adana. In my effort to experience all I could of the country and culture, I tried the Turkish Cai and immediately loved it. I also purchased a double boiler Turkish teapot here on Amazon. I've used it with the Cai many times and this is the authentic Turkish Cai flavor I remember from way back in the 80's. I will continue to purchase this Cai in the future.

Good tea but leaves are cut small
This tea is typical for the Middle East. We don't drink strong tea and use 1.5tsp of tea leaves for 25 Fl.oz. We drink this tea 2-3 times a day, every day. It has good flavor, the taste is smooth and mild depending on the amount you use and your length of steeping for the proper brew. This tea can be used with milk like English teas as well. One issue. The leaves are cut small, so you need a mesh strainer to keep the leaves out of your cup. And still, the little grains may be at the bottom of your cup. Our friends ordered the same tea also from Amazon (they gave us a link of their order) but 1 year ago and they didn't have such an issue.

Almost Drinkable(?)
Barely drinkable, is Turkish tea supposed to smell and taste like tea? It has an almost burnt aroma and I can barely get a single brew from it. I saw that turkey has the highest consumption of tea and so I wanted to try authentic Turkish tea. I mostly drink English, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese tea. They have a heavenly aroma deep colors distinct rich flavors and I can brew ‘grandpa style’ pot after pot after pot of the same leaves and it only gets better. This is chopped up so tiny and fine like they know it’s weak tea and have to increase their odds of getting anything out of it I was looking forward to deep burgundy drink from the pictures on the label. The smell was burnt not smoky like a Lapsang souchong but burnt like burnt toast. And the broth was weak with an ambiguous flavor that did not taste like tea in the usual sense. The color was weak as well like third brew coffee ground; to get the usual strength I brew almost half a cup in a liter of water it had to be boiled!! Still the flavor was ambiguous as if you tried to use mulch as tea, and not like any kind of tea I’ve enjoyed. After a single brewing it was completely spent. This had so many positive reviews and so many stars I thought for sure that this would be wonderful tea, but even Lipton would be better than this. I’m going to try to return this because it has such weak flavor there’s no point in drinking it. Of course they’re chopping it up very fine so that you cannot inspect the leaves, it tastes like if someone made tea out of regular yard trimmings And not tea leaves us at all. I just hope they will take it back because I don’t even know if this could be used to mulch my yard.

Excellent
Very good Turkish tea. Not the same as Ceylon tea from Sri Lanka or Indian tea. This is more smoky and earthy.
